Corvallis, OR—All ages rock show to support speech-language therapy services for teens and adults with developmental disabilities
A variety of rock bands including Dance Card (from Portland) and Tourist, the adequits, and The Rock 'n' Roll Hearts (from Corvallis) will perform at Odd Fellows Hall (223 SW 2nd Street) on Saturday, May 28th from 7 pm to midnight. The show will benefit The Speech Camp All Stars, a speech-language therapy group for teens and adults with developmental disabilities. This is an all ages event and will cost $4.00. There will be door prizes from a variety of local businesses as well as a grand prize raffle.
The Speech Camp All Stars is a private speech-language therapy program open to people with developmental disabilities aged 13 and up. Treatment plans and schedules are completely individualized and intervention is with 1:1 assistance. Planned activities include social interaction, language and reading activities, singing, community access and integration field trips, esteem and independence building, leadership training, and oral-motor activities. Rosemary Ayres, the director and lead therapist, says, "This is a very important event because Oregon Health Plan no longer provides funding for ongoing therapy for teens and adults with developmental disabilities. The All Stars therapy group teaches basic skills for success and quality-of-life for its members. We wish to thank all of the merchants and community members who are donating time and materials toward the success of this event."
