The crowd gathered at 5PM (about 65) There were some chants and Z21 interviewed several people.
We chanted some chants:

-Don't give up the fight, our courts, our rights

-Save our courts

- E.M.P.I.R.E. does not spell demorcracy

We marched up Oregon Street to Wall, accross Greenwood and up the the Deschutes County Court house where several people spoke.

Bruce Ewert spoke first: He said he was tired of the lies. He said he was a Christian in the sense of people taking care of people.

We chanted "Call Senator Smith" several times.

Several other speakers spoke on similar subjects.

Progressive Democrat

From a report from Monday, but now being proven accurate, by blogger "Armando" --

<< The most important statement from Reid, in my opinion, was that he believed that if Frist had the votes in the Senate to push the "nuclear" button, he would have done so TODAY. So when Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-KY), the GOP whip, claims that Frist has the votes for the "nuclear option," we should not believe him.

<< Apparently, there are a core of sane Republican Senators who realize the irreparable damage that would be caused by Frist's going "nuclear." These Republicans Senators appear to be Sens. McCain of Arizona, Chafee of RI, Snowe of Maine, Hagel of Nebraska, Collins of Maine, Sununu of New Hampshire, Smith of Oregon, Graham of South Carolina, Lugar of Indiana, Specter of Pennsylvania, Warner of Virginia. . . . The political pressure they are facing must be enormous.

[NOTE: "Smith of Oregon"]

Who thought people who be so galvinized to deal with an obscure subject like filibustering of court nominees when one side of a corporate plutocracy doesn't like how they look, and people ignore things like global climate change. How sad.
