Huntingdon Laboratories Supplier Attacked by Animal Liberation Front

Torrance, CA: The Animal Liberation Front (ALF) issued a communiqué
April 21st in which it claims to have attacked a supplier for Huntingdon
Life Sciences (HLS), a laboratory notorious for animal cruelty
violations. The home and automobiles of Flora Sadeghi, CFO of Phenomenex in
Torrance, were reportedly defaced with paint, according to the communiqué
received by the Press Office. Phenmenex has been supplying equipment
used on animals to HLS for many years.

Huntingdon Life Sciences (HLS) has been exposed in five separate
undercover investigations to openly abuse animals, killing 500 per day
testing such products as oven cleaners and pesticides. HLS is a contract
testing company with facilities in the United Kingdom and New Jersey. Its
suppliers and customers have been under unrelenting attack by animal
advocates for the last 3 years, driving them to near-bankruptcy.

The communiqué reads, in part:

"On behalf of all the lab animals tortured at HLS, garage doors and 3
cars including a brand new jag were spray painted at the home of an HLS
Supplier, Flora Sadeghi, the CFO of Phenomenex in Torrance,CA. They
supply animal torture equipment to the animal killers inside HLS. Your
nice new jag parked in front of 20 Santa Cantalina Drive in Ranchos Palos
Verdes, CA isn't so nice anymore.

Flora, we give you 7 days to drop HLS! This is just the beginning, we
know where you sleep at night! ALF"

A spokesperson for Stop Huntingdon Animal Cruelty (SHAC) stated "While
we do not condone breaking the law, it is clear the passion of some
animal defenders will hold those accountable that make animal torture a
reality in places like HLS". For more information on the SHAC campaign
against HLS cruelty, visit www.shacamerica.net.

Huntingdon Life Sciences should permanently close up shop. 27.Apr.2005 08:42

Jesus Christ

Huntingdon Life Sciences should permanently close up shop. Its beyond me how this company can be involved in such cruel and inhumane activity. First, there are so many oven cleaner products and pesticides that already exist on the market. A huge surplus of these products are in every retail outlet and convenient store across America, there really is no need to be testing these products on animals in the first place. What will these, "scientists" who are doing these tests find out, that they already now? Yes, they are toxic and yes these cans of Raid, etc, can be harmful to our health. Why in this day and age, test these chemicals of these products on animals? Totally stupid. Nothing justifies animal testing. Nothing is to be gained. This testing is a complete waste and downright cruel and inhumane. Now, since the test animals have already been killed, abused, mistreated, etc, etc, do you think that the manufacturers of these products will recall their product line of oven cleaners and pesticides from every Home Depot, Wal-Mart, etc,? The activity that Huntingdon Life Sciences engages in is criminal. Its all for the best that they close up shop. Save these animals.

Great job ALF! 27.Apr.2005 13:43

May those in the ranks of HLS rot in one of their own lab experiments. In the words of WSB "Ain't no job too dirty for a fuckin' scientist."

Earn $10,000 for One Simple Blow... 27.Apr.2005 15:36

anti-HLS

...of the whistle that is.

SHAC USA is offering a $10,000 reward* to whistleblowers who provide information leading to the arrest and conviction of an HLS employee for animal cruelty. So open wide, take a deep breath, and blow!

HLS has a long history of breaking the law - from abusing animals, to violating international standards of Good Laboratory Practice Laws, and failing to hold an Annual General Meeting for investors, HLS really are career criminals!

In each of five undercover investigations between 1989 and 1997, HLS has been shown to break both US and UK laws governing the use of animals and proper experimental procedures. Along with abusing animals and screwy science, breaking the law is just another daily duty for HLS. All you need to do is document what we all know to be true.

Grab your camera, copy those documents, start the video rolling, and GET THE EVIDENCE! Remember, you want to impress your evidence upon jury and ask them to return a guilty verdict. Make sure it is thorough, detailed, and damning!

Got evidence of HLS breaking the law?? Tell SHAC and cash in!

HLS: Career Criminals

HLS has a long history of breaking the law.

In March of 1997, Channel Four in England aired a documentary entitled It's a Dog's Life. Undercover video footage captured by journalist Zoe Broughton showed HLS workers Andrew Mash and Robert Waters repeatedly punching four-month-old beagles in the face, shaking them violently, yelling at them, and throwing them against walls. Mash and Waters were convicted of violating the Protection of Animals Act 1911.
Three months later, on July 24th, the UK government threatened to revoke HLS's Certificate of Designation based on the evidence presented in Zoe's expose, suspending it pending HLS's fulfillment of 16 conditions.

In April 1997 Dr. Gill Langley, a member of the UK government's advisory committee on animal experiments submitted a report charging serious violations of international Good Laboratory Practice Laws. The Dept. of Health issued HLS a Warning Notice on May 1, 1997. "Serious deficiencies in [HLS's] GLP procedures" were found in subsequent inspections.
Two separate undercover investgations in 2000 showed over 600 violations of Good Laboratory Practice Laws, including 186 errors within the time in which the 16 conditions were to be satisfied.

In 1997, Michelle Rokke, an undercover investigator for People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals released a video showing, among other violations, HLS workers dissecting a live, conscious monkey. This lead to a $50,000 fine imposed by the USDA for violations of the Animal Welfare Act. Since this fine in 1997, more than half of the USDA reports into HLS's US facility have shown additional violations. (Additionally ,SHAC has recently heard allegations of new USDA violations).

On November 8, 2001, HLS pleaded guilty to breaching Company Law by failing to hold an Annual General Meeting (AGM) for shareholders within 15 months of the previous one.

ARE YOU A CUSTOMER OF HLS?? HELP US BLOW THE WHISTLE!

Do you work for a company that is contracting at HLS? Tired of HLS funking up your experiments? Blow the whistle! You don't need to be an HLS worker or and outsider to blow the whistle on HLS. If you work for a company that has contracted experiments at HLS, and have or can get evidence of HLS breaking the law - we want to know about it! You too can receive $10,000 for one little blow!

The crimes detailed under 'Career Criminals' were committed in the course of experiments HLS was comissioned to conduct *on behalf of other companies.* If your company is contracting at HLS, they could be breaking the law in the name of *your* research! HLS dissected a live monkey for a Proctor & Gamble experiment and violated Good Laboratory Practices hundreds of times during Imutran experiments - the list goes on.

please note: Rewards will go to *individuals* who blow the whistle on HLS. SHAC will not be giving a cent to any company that experiments on animals.

You are the few who actually stand up to these degenerates. It is You who i am proud to be living among as a n AMerican. We should all be as brave as you. I am only 18 years old and i can only dream of being as courageous as the members of your organization. I ahve done several in depth researches on Huntingdon and they are beyond disgusting, it is the most unfair thing to do( put the very creatures we have domesticated to be our own and then turn against them by torturing them, without love or reason/ oh i forgot there is a reason- stupid medical "status quo" it is ignorant and morally wrong our world should not let ourselves be looked upon as masaquering heartless beasts-and yet that is exactly what we portray ouselves to be-Thank you witha all of my heart Heather.
