CASCADIA! THE SOLUTION TO THE FASCISTS!

Enough is enough! We are fighting on numerous fronts and a storm of battles! This is like fighting one demon after another only to see we are in a storm of demons coming across the horizon! Look at all the battles we are doing. They know we can not fight on every front like this. I suggest we focus and get rid of it in one swoop with secession! This does not mean leaving the lines of battle that we are entrenched in, but do so while encouraging others and telling them we are all under attack! I believe if Cascadia or another region broke free or at least tried the whole house of cards would collapse. Other states would break from the union. The military would even collapse. A Cascadia would destroy these fascists and the world would be in our debt!

If we do not unite we will be fall in these battles. Everyone in this region has stake in this. We just need to alert them to it! We need an outreach group.
Look at how much the corporatists (ie fascists) are attacking on every level.

They are doing multiple attacks on the environment!

Where is your determination?

I have been standing at the front of the ranks for way too long to think that Cascadia can be a reality without a concentrated, armed movement that promotes sustainability and freedom.

We Cascadians must either put up or shut up at this point...

And I am not behind shutting up.

Sustainability or bust.

And freedom and justice for all.

just my opinion.

Ah... ah... Yes! So we need to unite! and start seeing what this is. Its not just little encroachments or battles here and there. This is a war the fascists are waging on us, our children, our lands and anything else left. We need to see this as a out right war they are waging.

The main attraction distraction
Got you number than number than numb.
Empty your pockets son they got you thinkin' that
What you need is what they sellin'
Make you think that buyin' is rebellin'
From the theaters to malls on every shore
The thin line between entertainment and war
The front line is everywhere there'll be no shelter here
Still burn the nightmare works you pushin' for,
I'm a snap of the whip, the true feather to tar
Memroy erased and promise gone,
Tradin' your history for a V.C.R.
Cinema simulated life in trauma
Forthright culture, Americana
Chained to the dream they got you searchin' for
The thin line between entertainment and war
There'll be no shelter here,
The front line is everywhere.
The front line is everywhere.
The front line is everywhere.
The front line is everywhere.

The market bulls got pockets full
To advertise some hip disguise
View the world from American eyes
The parmagon keep fiendin' for more
The thin line between entertainment and war
Fix the need, develop the taste,
Buy the products, or get laid to waste
Coca-cola was back in the veins of Saigon
And Rambo troops We got a dope pair 'a Nikes on

Get your eyes on the real killer,

another opinion

Personally, I think an armed conflict with a country like the U.S., that already has a huge military presence here is absolutely not the way to obtain autonomy in our country. Emulating the U.S. and it's violent ways is not the answer. If there was going to be a movement to secede, they'd want it to be violent. That's fighting on thier terms.

I think we're smarter and more creative than that. Our own protests here at the WTO in in Seattle sparked a ribirth of protest movements worldwide. Some of those protests have been very effective in changing the way government works in various countries. I'm thinking about what's going on in Lebanon and what took place in the Ukraine recently.

I'm thinking we need to be more creative, more annoying. Work stoppages, boycotts, protests. Chop down a few trees at our boundries on the freeways, install a little border crossing booth. Do things that can't be responded to in a violent way. Always act in a good way to make them look bad. Shouldn't be too hard, they are bad. Respond to thier macho America bullshit with a laugh and a little jig. Start flying our flags, above thier flag. Use comedy to squash thier gruff and tuff mannerisms. Push buttons, turn knobs. Start fucking up thier shit. Come up with ways to make America not want us. Make them so sick of us that they kick us out of the union. Sour thier milk that is our land. If anyone region of the country can do it, its ours, without a doubt.

In other words, lets annoy them out of this country. It really shouldn't be so hard. We look different, we dress different, we act different than the rest of this country. We need to end the memetic grip they have over many people in our region. We need to show people that there's more to watching others live out thier lives on some t.v. show, that they can be part of a completely new country that can set the cultural and sociological tone for generations to come, worldwide. If we can do this, we'd inspire the planet.

Face it, we'll need people in power too. Politicians, doctors, lawyers and even cops. We need some friendly cops, cops that say hi and don't wear those mean cop mustaches. Nobody wants to be a cop in this movement and we all know why. Perhaps that'd be a good direction for are more military minded patriots to go. I know I don't want to live in a tree-filled meth lab. We could make a law against being a total jerk and jail the straggling Americans for being mean-spirited. We'll need to foster relationships and inspire our Canadian counterparts to do the same. Lots of things too think about. Where do we begin? How about a laid back Quarterly potluck for Cascadia or something? pe tillicums potluck or something?

The economic global influence of the US is decaying before our eyes. Peak Oil has made the western world turn back the clock and go into colonialization mode, but calling it 'bringing democracy to the Middle East' because it sounds better on the evening news. The member countries belonging to the Coalition of the Willing has started to hit the silk and bail out of Iraq.
And will the US allow Taiwan be reintegrated into the PRC as a matter of who'se the better trade partner?

You think those in office will stand by and let the people hand the Feds their pink slip? Think the US will say, " I'm not welcome anymore. I think I'll remove my military bases and naval ports and give up all the revenue from taxpayers and let alone the land property itself and go somewhere else"?

The US will not hesitate to liberate the democracy-loving people from the evil clutches of the outlaw Cascadia terrorist regime. That's a psyops event just waiting to happen. It wouldn't suprise me a bit at FoxNEWS there are computer video graphics already to go on the air to back up the "RETAKING THE HOMELAND!" 24/7 coverage.

The minute it goes from intellectual venting to more physical manifestations like legally setting succession in motion (i loathe to say 'direct action' because nowadays it infers violence with no thought), I guarantee it'll be countered by national arrests on conspiriacy charges with disappeared US citizens thanks to the Patriot Act.

The US government is very good at letting it's soldiers kill. That's their job. If they are deployed to stop this "internal threat" their actions will force the issue to where the question of the day won't be 'Are you willing to give your all (i.e. your life) for Cascadia', but "Are you willing to kill to keep it?". At that point, the Second Civil War will begin.

Is there an "official" Cascadia flag? Can I buy one? Imagine thousands of them flying all over the NW. It would be a great start.

Nation vs. Liberation (excerpt) 16.Mar.2005 10:47

Binyamin freebinyamin@hotmail.com

Nation vs. Liberation - Excerpted from Cascadia Ascendent issue #1

What is Cascadia? For those who might not be familiar with the term, "Cascadia" is the bioregion defined by the Cascade mountain range. There are no precise borders, but most people agree that Cascadia includes the lush strip from San Francisco Bay up to southern British Columbia, and from the crest of the mountains west to the Pacific Ocean.
At the start of George W. Bush's second term, there has been renewed talk of a Cascadia- oriented movement for autonomy or even secession from the United States.
This is in many ways a beautiful idea. However, there are flaws that I can see in the current proposals that need to be challenged....

....More importantly, any kind of "National Liberation" movement in Cascadia is not only so improbable as to be futile, but it's also entirely divorced from any genuine liberation. This is because revolution is inherently relational, or else it's merely a rebellion. In other words, our real struggle is to remake our social relationships on all scales, something that independence doesn't necessarily allow. Official independence would be a likely side-effect of a true revolution, but it doesn't make such a revolution. To assert that it does is to place the cart before the horse. Basically, the problem I see in many recent proposals is that they address one particular oppression, namely the political yoke of Washington DC, but they don't target the relationship of oppression itself.

A Cascadian nationalistic movement fails to address the real sources of our problems: relationships of domination within society and toward nature. As such it constitutes a kind of escapism. Is this discovery any wonder when we look at the characteristics of other emotive nationalisms in history? Many of the recent arguments in favor of nationalist separatism are full of logical fallacies, simplistic, and even fanatical. One poster on indymedia even stated (I'm not making this up) "Believe, and it will be." I think Mussolini's words were similar: "The people don't need to understand, they simply need to believe. If you believe mountains can be moved, then mountains can be moved." This kind of political psychology is about as radical as my brother's West Coast Choppers wear.
Most of all, the efforts toward separatism strike me as liberal. Why is it that an indymedia post that advocates a separatist pipedream will get a dozen comments, but issues more immediate and important will go by unnoticed? It's precisely because arguing over what "our flag" should be means you don't have to actually do anything. You can sit at a computer all day, posting to indymedia, without having one's privelage or prejudices challenged. It's not really about doing things for ourselves as communities.
As radicals, as opposed to liberals who believe in State-oriented "solutions", our actions should be focused on achieving real autonomy - which is compatible with independence but is altogether different. If we can actualize this autonomy, which doesn't need exact borders or "officiality," then I would bet that many people of the Cascadia National Party stripe would become involved. Even if they didn't, though, our task remains the same: creation of a new culture of cooperation and respect, not a new state. There enough states on earth already.

I'm all for the Cascadian "spirit," for lack of a better term, as the title of this zine suggests. I identify more as "Cascadian" than "Oregonian." This is because I feel we have the potential to do something truly revolutionary with the intersection of our ecology, culture, and history. What I don't want is the snatching of defeat from the jaws of potential victory. Cascadia is not about having our own government in these states; it's about having Dual Power in our local communities. So, if there is even a need for a Cascadian flag, there is only one appropriate choice - if we want to remain true to what Cascadia is really about - and that is the Black Flag.

nothing official. But the blue, white and green colors have been used for years in numerous Cascadian flags. My tree flag with tricolor blue, white and green has been online for over a decade. Regardless of which one I think a campaign of blue, white and green fabrics (maybe the dreaded ribbon) tied to trees, poles, car mirrors, from doors and balconies sounds like a mission that NEEDS to be done!

Of course I can not support graffiti with "US out of Cascadia!" That would be defacing property espcially if targetting federal property. No I will not suppport that nor would I sarcastically smirk if I saw that.

Cascadia! 16.Mar.2005 14:14

a cascadian

Cascadia is geographically the Columbia River Watershed & the area around the Cascade Range. Cascadia's farthest extent is from northern California to the Alaskan Panhandle & from the Pacific to the Continental Divide. Cascadia Minor tends to be the states of Northern California, Oregon & Washington with the province of British Columbia. The Scottish naturalist David Douglas named the Cascade mountain range after the powerful waterfalls that carved out this land & gave it so much biomass. In the mid 1970s Ernest Callenbach envisioned an emergence of environmental awareness that would lead the Pacific NorthWest to form the country of Ecotopia. The 1990s David McCloskey formed the Cascadia Institute. McCloskey describes Cascadia as "a land of falling water". Historically a nation is a group of people with common symbolism such as language, culture, religion & etc that unify them as a group. The group identity called nationalism emerged out of the Industrial Age as a new form of political group identity & as a result has became chauvinistic in many respects to any other form of group identity. Nationalism with all its chauvinsim has become yet another stumbling block to finding harmony between people & Nature. As an emerging identity "Cascadian" may evolve into a "nation", but the terms "national" & "nationalism" are limited & chauvinistic in their regards to the Cascadian love for diversity. This new approach to identity through diversity in thinking, in human experience & ecology is bioregionalism. "Bioregions are geographic areas having common characteristics of soil, watershed, climate, native plants & animals...A bioregion refers to both the geographical terrain & a terrain of consciousness -- to a place & the ideas that have developed about how to live in that place." Peter Berg.

 http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Cascadian_Bioregionalism/

Let me repeat this for Benny:

"Historically a nation is a group of people with common symbolism such as language, culture, religion & etc that unify them as a group. This new approach to identity through diversity in thinking, in human experience & ecology is bioregionalism."

objective observer

Ideally we could live in a world where the entire population had trancended feelings of nationalism, but until then, I see nothing wrong with fighting fire with fire, nationalism with nationalism. The ideological battle lines have already been drawn, but are perhaps too abstract for those "without the capacity for abstract thought". having actual geographical boundaries might be what is needed to engender the "us versus them" type mentality in a "critical" number of people.
