There is proposal to create a 365 acre rock pit in the Millican valley after changing the land use zoning from exclusive farm use, Wildlife range and landsape management, to surface mining. It would be at the corner of Spencer Wells road, and Hiway 20.
Objections to the proposed mine include:
1. Excess increase in noise due to blasting.
2. Damage to historic, academic, and archaeological sites.
