Victoria, BC, Canada - The Indymedia collective here has no explanation for the bizarre graphic replacing its website since last night. The changes were apparently carried out by Victoria's hosts in Vancouver, BC. Once again, the hosts did not notify the collective about the changes. After almost 24 hours, the website, admin, and lists used by the Victoria collective are still not accessible, and the group has no information from the hosts about the reason for the change, or how long Victoria's editors will be locked out of the site.
A Victoria editor had this to say: "shit. uggggg."
The site does not appear to have been hacked by external forces.
The relationship between Victoria and its host, Vancouver Indymedia, has been strained in recent months by the Vancouver administrators' failure to contact the collective when the site is suddenly pulled offline. Today's redirect is the third time since November that the site was removed with little or no explanation.
Victoria IMC is currently weighing its options on continuing its hosting arrangement with Vancouver, versus moving to a more reliable, open and democratic host.
