VICTORY! FCC GRANTS LICENSE TO LPFM IN ROGUE VALLEY

Activists and community minded people of Southern Oregon have been trying for years to start up a LPFM (Low Power Frequency Modulation) community radio station. There have been few places that a radical community-minded voice could be raised. The corporate Clear Channel and NPR stations filled the air waves. Now that has changed. The FCC has granted a LPFM license to activtists...and we are getting organized.

VICTORY!!!

Winter Solstice, 21.12, shortest day of the year, the FCC grants a license to build a brand new citizen owned and operated LPFM (Low Power Frequency Modulation) radio station here in the Rogue Valley. Community members are now charged to vision the perfect venue to broadcast, communicate, and determine day to day operations.

This is a huge victory in this more isolated part of the Pacfic NW where most of the media is corporate and right wing. Besides Rogue IMC there are few places for community discussions and organizing. If you live in Southern Oregon and want to get involved....

A LPFM Radio collective meeting with be held at the Ashland Public Library on January 22nd from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM to discuss how to go forward and what to name the station - plus other items.

Get involved! LPFM Workshop: Saturday, January 22nd 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm Ashland Public Library downstairs in the Gresham Room. More info? Call suzia 541 482-0102 or  souixzan@mind.net
