I know. You're tired, downhearted about November 2nd, can't imagine putting any more energy into even thinking about politics or elections just now.
But are you aware that none of the states have certified their presidential election results yet? And that the electoral college doesn't meet to vote until December 13th? And that there is very strong evidence of election fraud (specifically electronic counting by private corporations) being investigated in Ohio, Florida, Pennsylvania and New Mexico, among others?
Code Pink Portland is working on this issue, and we have affiliated with a newly formed group in Portland called ActionSpeaks. The mission of this coalition is to unite individuals and communities together in a single voice creating a vehicle for shared knowledge and action.
ActionSpeaks is holding a general meeting tomorrow, Tuesday, November 16th at 7pm at PSU Smith Center cafeteria.
If you're not in Portland, check your local indymedia or other local alternative news sources for organizations working on this issue.
If you want more information or want to get involved with this group, here are some websites to refer to:
Mainstream media has done a pre-emptive strike on this issue, categorizing it as conspiracy theory. There are reports that the major media upper echelon has forbidden any investigation into the stories. Once again, we have to dig for the information ourselves and share it at the grassroots level. You ain't gonna hear it on FOX!!!
I cannot close my eyes and pretend that the Bush administration is in office legitimately -- once again, it seems there's a very good chance that this election was controlled, if not stolen.
This is a non-partisan issue; it does not have to do with being disgruntled about Bushco "winning" or a desire to overturn the election results. It is about the core of our democracy being threatened. It is the tip of the iceberg for desperately needed election reform in this country.
I paraphrase Martin Luther King: Electoral fraud anywhere is a threat to democracy anywhere. Please do what you can to inform yourself, inform others and demand that every vote counts!
