Investigations are continuing. We are trying, by various means to monitor their VHF, but they do not appear to have any measurable frequency signature and neither do they appear to make any physical noise. This again is amazing because the represent a very great number of aircraft that are entering and leaving (an indeed manoeuvring) inside multiple national airspaces at will, with no recognition signals, and no visible identification. Since they are supersonic, they are over the visible horizon in seconds (the comparatively lazy motion of a 400-mph 747 Jumbo may be compared to them). Where these many aircraft all break into Mach 1 is another mystery.

Since our observers at military and civilian airfields reported no connected activity by any such aircraft, we have here a modern mystery in our skies visible to all on a clear day. Mere national airspace regulations don't appear to be a problem at all, with any country, as far as these infringements...

The so-called "chemtrails" that are seen almost everywhere in the skies of the world are an incredible phenomenon of our time, if only because like UFO sightings, the broad span of social, political, and intellectual life of major nations largely ignores such things utterly.

Even those with imagination (artists, playwrights, novelists, poets) ignore such anomalistic things as UFOs and chemtrails, even though they offer images, symbols, metaphors, intrigue, mysterious technology, and much more besides!

This changing of the skies of the world full previously of traditional pantomime clouds to a sky scored by lines of whitish-grey streaks is totally ignored by major news, media, and communication outlets. This is strange again given that the effects are quite spectacular and beautiful when lit by the evening sun. The trails spread out at different rates, they come from different angles, and the aircraft that create them can be seen streaking across the sky, often several at once, and at extremely high speeds.

The word "chemtrails" is used here for lack of a better word, but it is unlikely that what we see spreading out across the sky are chemicals of some sort. Such an amount of chemicals would surely have the most immediate and obvious effect on both our minds and environment. [The populations of several original test cities in Canada in the late 1990s would beg to differ with that unsubstantiated assessment.] We would be pleased to hear from environmental group who have more specialized knowledge about any kind of chemical/environmental approach. [Fair enough.]

Over the past year, the Combat Diaries team have conducted a special investigation of chemtrails over Britain. With the help of specialists (some ex Royal Air Force), we conducted a 16 hour period of observation by web, telephone, and amateur radio of the skies over America and Central Europe, from first light to last light, taking into account time differences. The results were quite disturbing.

It was obvious that simultaneous operation by large numbers of quite visible aircraft were being mounted over continental areas on both sides of the Atlantic. Through contacts, we managed also to get reports on this selected same day from the civilian staff of merchant and cruise ships crossing the Atlantic. They reported that sky trails were visible in whilst sailing in mid Atlantic.

Thus we concluded that chemtrails represent a continuous operation of incredible magnitude.

The aircraft involved show remarkably similar characteristic and performance, though their profile we have yet to find in any book of aircraft recognition. Roughly, they resemble in shape and size the Boeing 757 (the type that is claimed by the US to have crashed into the Pentagon on 9/11), but carried no markings. This is remarkable in itself, because technically it is illegal.

Measured by range theodolite and ex-service hand-held rangefinders, they were doing approximately the same speed at the same height. The speed was steady, quite precisely maintained, being 1200-1400 mph. This is somewhat high for an outmoded passenger aircraft type, meant for inland short/medium range commuter flights at a top speed of 450 mph!

These things are wonders in themselves, but it is the sheer number of these pseudo 757-type aircraft that is beyond belief. On this chosen sample day, our reporters in France, Germany and Holland, Spain, Italy and Israel alone reported at noon the sky trails of no less that 234 almost identical aircraft at between 40-50,00 feet Since this hourly rate continued during the day it represented some 2340 sorties over ten hours. Worldwide, multiplying the quite reasonable factor of 10, we have 23,400 sorties per day by planes of a non-military non-supersonic configuration, travelling at speeds equivalent to the combat speed of F16 or Typhoon Euro-fighter.

By comparison, NATO figures for annual full-scale exercises amount to something like 300 (jet supersonic) combat sorties at full stretch for the same time period, involving some no more than 150 aircraft. Again, the absence of reported noise is strange. Even a single Tornado on afterburner over central London would shake the population up considerably.

Since our observers at military and civilian airfields reported no such activity by any such aircraft, we have here a modern mystery in our skies visible to all on a clear day. National airspace regulations don't appear to be a problem at all with any country as far as these infringements are concerned.

This vast number of aircraft appear to have no detectable bases, they have no apparent air-refuelling needs, they do not carry drop tanks, and the routes appear to stretch across the sky from all compass points, often crossing one another on a pretty random basis. They appear also to have no detectible manufacturers, support base, or refuelling facilities. And they don't appear to land or take off! Again, since no air force in the world (not even the United States Air Force) has any supersonic transport aircraft, the presence of many hundreds of supersonic transport aircraft is rather strange!

The cost such of such visible operations on a worldwide basis by the approximately the same type of powerful aircraft must be stupendous.

The maintenance, fuelling, and repair facilities of such a great number of high-performance aircraft can only be imagined.

The training schemes and accommodation of the personnel appear not to exist! Since no such numbers of this aircraft type are on manufacturer's lists, and the number that have been manufactured are all busy on conventional routes flying conventional passengers and cargo, we have here a true mystery of our time.

Where are they from, and what are they doing on their seemingly purposeless routes across the sky?

We have discovered something else that multiplies these astonishments. Using (passive) night scope infrared amplifiers, we found that the operations did not cease after nightfall!

This means that roughly speaking we can possibly multiply the scale of operations by a factor of two, bringing us into absurd realms as regards cost, maintenance, and purpose.

Our collective "not-seeing" is unusual if only because chemtrails are much more visible and more frequent than UFO visitations. We are forced to consider the idea that levels of conscious acceptance and recognition within a culture have often nothing to do with how much "evidence" is available.

All anomalistic structures have this common peculiarity. Somehow, like a bioelectric switch, as a society we turn most anomalies "off" as far as social cognition is concerned. This is a most common effect. The phenomenon may be large or small, fantastic or mundane, it makes no difference. We cannot see the kitchen matchbox in front of us, say, because we are have been diverted into thinking about something else. We don't have enough RAM to hold all our files open at the same time!

From a Fortean point of view, the phenomenon of chemtrails might enable us to construct a new and healthier definition of what we mean by "skepticism." We might see skepticism not a revealing of mundane truth, so much as an automated control mechanism by means of which maintain a kind of wonder-management rather than differentiate fact from fiction. This was Charles Fort's original view of the function of skepticism. It puts "doubt" in a new dynamic context rather than it being seen as a depressing semi-automated denial of all that is wondrous and magical in the world.

Meantime, we are starting the long, hard road of corresponding with the appropriate civil and military authorities about chemtrails.

After 9.11 they had a no fly order on usa for a couple of days - scintist tested how the condensat of the airplanes effect the wheather.
They found out that air stripes reflects the sun and this throttles the climate temperatur - like 1-2 celsius.

Even a little kid could point out the flaws here

It's truly funny when 'chemtrails' people start posting in detail, since their ignorance of the most basic rules of physics just jumps out.

The planes, allegedly modified civilian transports, are traveling at "1200-1400 mph".

Try taking your car out (or borrow the neighbor's, if you only have a bike or walk) and driving it at twice or three times its normal cruising speed. That is, find someplace where you can go 200 mph. Good luck. If you can reach that, which no stock model sold in the U.S. can do, then sustain that speed for hundreds of miles without blowing out the tires, suspension, etc.

That's what is being suggested here.

But the true giveaway is this: SONIC BOOMS.

I've used all caps because anyone who has ever heard a sonic boom would agree. They're loud. And few people have heard them outside of the movies because there is a strict ban on them. That is why the Concorde could not fly over the continental U.S.

But our 'chemtrails' observers have hundreds of flights breaking the sound barrier without anybody noticing. Aha! Those pesky governmental agencies. They've harnessed the UFO technology and obliterated the sonic booms. They're bombarding us with 'chemtrails' while simultaneously they're laughing at us because they've got this cool technology and can do anything they want.

And how old are you? You seem to be doing pretty well.

They made your comment above in the article, anyway. I suggest you talk to the British ex-Royal Airforce people involved in the observations. Perhaps they can straighten it out for you. Or on the outside chance you are a phantom troll, you might disappear or be forced to deal with the numberous other identifiers (like the multi country noticed illegally unidentified planes, or their inability to find how they are communicating, or find how they were granted international free safe airspaces, etc. Thats only three other points you refuse to deal with, I noticed offhand.

If you would like to talk about other aspects about the plane identification (that you intentionally overlook), please do so. Reread the whole article.

Looks like we are being told that what we see are just normal trails left behind by commercial aircrafts. Those "vapours" that linger on,spread into clouds by melting into each other and suddenly change the colour of sky into a gray-white while the temperature drops suddenly by 5-10 degrees are just a figment of our imagination. The Xs and the grids aren't really there. We are all hallucinating because we do not know the laws of physics!

Our governments are so people orientated that they would never do anything without first consulting us and certainly would never endanger our health and our planet.

Naive people are those who believe the above. And naive certainly are those individuals who think that disinformation campaigns do not exist. (Rumsfeld actually said it openly that his specially created office would be involved in spreading disinformation) There are people who are paid to web in paranormal or the UFO or some reptilian bull crap into the real facts to make the public dismiss what they see with their own eyes.

Something's up...and it's Big Brother stuff.

1. Leave them in the airplanes for other passengers on the next flight to see, particularly put them

3. Even if they are picked up on the next round, the flight crew, pilots, attendants, boarding personnel will be made aware.

Then, use fingernail to make the sharp and fine fold for the cover, while holding page 1's title/cover image towards yourself. It does fit. I have done this numerous times already.

"Chemtrails" is the term widely used to describe the brilliant white plumes laid down by U.S. Air Force tanker planes photo-identified over North America and a dozen other allied nations. Unlike normal condensation trails - which form when hot engine exhaust momentarily condenses in the frigid stratosphere like exhaled breath on a cold day - chemical trails linger for hours, turning clear skies into milky haze in a process the U.S. Air Force calls "aerial obscuration"
Chemtrail Ban Sought In Congress

"Chemtrails" also appear in House Resolution 2977.

Introduced last October by Ohio Rep. Dennis Kucinich, this bill called for the peaceful uses of space, and a ban on "exotic weapons". Section 7 of the "Space Preservation Act of 2001" sought specifically to prohibit "chemtrails".

Kucinich recently told the Columbus Alive newspaper (Jan. 24, 2002) that despite official denials, as head of the Armed Services oversight committee he is well acquainted with chemtrail projects. "The truth is there's an entire program in the Department of Defense, 'Vision for 2020,' that's developing these weapons," Kucinich told reporter Bob Fitrakis. The U.S. Space Command's 2020 vision calls for "dominance" of space, land, sea and air.

The unusual white plumes reported by Air Canada pilots, police officers and former military personnel over Canada and the U.S. during the past three years are often contrasted by brief, pencil-thin contrails left by commercial jets flying above them.

Contrails form when water vapor clumps around dirt particles acting as nuclei. According to NASA and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, contrails can only form at temperatures below minus 76 degrees, and humidity levels of 70 percent or more. Even in ideal conditions, contrails rarely last more than 20 minutes.

But atmospheric studies by NASA and NOAA - including TARFOX, ACE-Asia, ACE-I and II, INDOEX and Project SUCCESS - confirm that artificial clouds and contrails can be manufactured under conditions of low humidity by dispensing particles from aircraft. The smaller the size of the nuclei introduced into the atmosphere, the greater the rate of artificial cloud formation.
Canadians Petition Parliament

Canadians were the first to complain about chemtrails to their federal government. On Nov. 18, 1999, NDP Defense critic Gordon Earl petitioned Parliament on behalf of 550 residents of Espanola, Ontario to "repeal any law that would permit the dispersal of military chaff or of any cloud-seeding substance whatsoever by domestic or foreign military aircraft without the informed consent of the citizens of Canada thus affected."

According to CBC Newsworld (Aug 29, 1999), "Many in the community have reported respiratory problems and strange aches and pains. Town council heard that some believe military jets are dropping material over the town as part of a weather experiment" - after laboratory tests confirmed the presence of aluminum in rainwater falling through chemtrails over Espanola five-times higher than provincial health safety limits.

The Ministry of Defense eventually replied, "It's not us."
Studies Prove Chemtrails Cannot Be Contrails

The "airliner" argument collapsed along with the Twin Towers, when heavy chemtrails were reported over Vancouver Island and widely separated U.S. cities despite the grounding of all commercial flights last Sept. 11, 12 and 13.

Photographs of heavy aerial gridding over Santa Fe, New Mexico and B.C.'s Sunshine Coast also contradict official weather data showing high altitude humidity at the same times and locations to be less than one third the moisture needed for contrails to form.

In Houston, Texas, Mark Steadham conducted a 62 day survey of jet traffic over that busy hub. Using a computer program called Flight Explorer, Steadham identified commercial and military aircraft sharing the same sky. The contrails from commercial jets dissipated within 22 seconds. The plumes left behind at the same time by big military jets persisted for four to eight hours.
Canadian and U.S. Aviation Officials Confirm Chemtrails

The first break in an investigation begun by the Environment News Service in Jan. 1999, came 11 months later when Victoria airport authority Terry Stewart returned a call to a Victoria resident concerned about the X's and grid patterns being laid over the B.C. capitol. "It's a military exercise, a U.S. and Canada air force exercise that's going on," Stewart reported on Dec. 8, 2000. "They wouldn't give me any specifics on it."

The "specifics" came in March the following year, when Maine radio reporter S. T. Brendt called a senior Air Traffic Control manager after she, her news director and staff counted 370 plumes filling skies normally devoid of commercial aircraft. During his hitch in U.S. Navy Intelligence, Brendt's husband had never seen an aerial armada this big. "It looked like an invasion," Lou Aubuchont said.

The FAA manager told Brendt he had been ordered to redirect incoming commercial flights around "military exercises" on several occasions that month. In follow-up interviews at the WMWV studios, the government official confirmed widespread chemtrail activity. As they flew north into Canada, he said, the planes were spraying a substance that showed up as a "haze" on Air Traffic Control radar screens.

This characteristic signature of radar beams reflecting off fine aluminum particles confirmed the Espanola lab tests. It also matched a patent issued to Hughes Aircraft Corp. in 1994. This practical blueprint described spraying reflective aluminum particles into Earth's greenhouse atmosphere, "For the Reduction of Global Warming".

Computer simulations at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory showed that spraying 10 million tons of aluminum oxide into the upper atmosphere would reflect between one and two percent of incoming sunlight. The predictions promised no net warming over 85 percent of the earth surface, despite a predicted doubling of CO2 within the next 50 years.

The biggest lobby pushing for a reduction in global warming are insurance companies bigger than Big Oil and the international trade in arms. Multinationals such as the Swiss Reinsurance Company and Lloyd's of London report unsustainable losses incurred by Extreme Weather Events caused by a rapidly warming planet. It is feared that if they go bankrupt, so will the money markets and banks that back them.

Andrew Dlugolecki - director of one of the world's six biggest insurance groups, CGNU - warned the Hague two years ago that unless action is taken to curb global warming, the resulting damage will exceed the dollar value of all the world's resources by 2065. It was Edward Teller, father of the H-bomb, who called for spraying a chemical "sunscreen" at a 1998 International Seminar on Planetary Emergencies. Besides disturbing regional weather patterns, Teller's chief climate modeler, Ken Caldeira worries about negative health effects. The atmospheric scientist who crunched the numbers on Teller's "sky shield" further warns such a project could, "destroy the ozone layer". Health Hazard

Scientists say aluminum oxide as inert as sand poses no toxic threat. But after examining more than 3,000 health studies published since 1997, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency confirmed a strong link between tiny particulates and thousands of premature deaths each year.

According to a New York Times feature, "Tiny Bits of Soot Tied to Illnesses" (April 21, 2001), numerous health studies show that "microscopic motes - composed of metals, carbon and other ingredients - are able to infiltrate the tiniest compartments in the lungs and pass readily into the bloodstream and have been most strongly tied to illness and early death, particularly in people who are already susceptible to respiratory problems."

In a report headlined, "Tiny particles can kill" New Scientist (Aug. 5, 2000) reported a Harvard "Six Cities" study, which "identified particles with a diameter of less than 10 microns as threat to public health."
Barium Chemtrails

A scientist working at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base told Columbus Alive (Dec. 6, 2001) that two different chemtrails projects are currently being conducted by the U.S. military. One involves creating clouds to cool global warming.

Chemtrails are also being deployed by the Pentagon to suspend a mixture of barium stearate and fine iron particles as a temporary atmospheric antenna for conducting radio and radar waves over the horizon. The soapy stearate used to carry the airborne iron particles appears in the sky as prismatic bands of color.

Barium-iron chemtrails were reportedly used to create long range radio-and-radar "ducting" during sustained air strikes on Iraq, Kosovo, and Afghanistan. The scientist interviewed by Fitzrakis also stated that barium chemtrails are being used in conjunction with an "atmospheric heater" called HAARP in Gakon, Alaska.

HAARP's inventor Bernard Eastland told this reporter that the principal purpose of this multi-million watt weapon is to "steer the jet stream" and change the weather. His patent calls for spraying barium in the atmosphere to enhance the effects of HAARP. "Wright-Pat has long been deeply engaged in HAARP's electromagnetic warfare program," Eastlund told Columbus Alive.

one day i was walking to the Rose Center TC around noon and one of these cowboys was emitting a 'trail. the sky was clear and the sun was out and there was a rainbow halo around the sun. the 'trail bisected this halo and with the sun in the middle it 'marked out' the sun--No Sunlight it seemed to be saying.

This just says it all, folks. If you don't know "why" you think they're real, then you don't "know" at all. Just 'cause you've got a feeling you're being lied to doesn't mean the first opposing story you run into is the truth. Strong feelings and capital letters don't turn words into facts and hypotheses into conclusions.

All I "know" is I've seen contrails like this since I was a little kid -- in the '70s -- and nobody ever thought there was anything strange about it until a few years ago. Aircraft exhaust can put water vapor into parts of the sky that are near 100% humidity for the local temp. & pressure & the extra water shows up as clouds and STAYS THERE. Declining temperatures can turn the same air-water mixture from a clear sky to grey overcast, and if there are planes flying through it while it's going on, the disturbance will form clouds in the planes' wake FIRST. This is not rocket science. It's just sad to see so many people obsessing about "bad clouds" when there are so many real problems in the world.

You would learn that a stepping up of the "project" occurred in the covert operation called Project Cloverleaf beginning in 1997, according to selective leaks--when commercial airlines were 'requisitioned' to participate in the military applications. Private commercial airliners are being jury-rigged to do this as well, though not all planes have them (as seen in simultaneous photographs in the same weather conditions of typical contrails that only last seconds in the same picture with long brilliant white trails that last, well, hours.

It was the first time ever that I had seen such a, well, "frantic looking" display of energy, particluarly the cross lateral zigzags and a pulsing corona. It lasted for hours and hours.

I should relate that I was in Madison, WI though these were seen all over the world according to spaceweather.com--even in aurora rare places like Nashville, TN!

Something about "atypical solar energy" is the current media story about it. I don't know what to make of that story though perhaps something else was bundled in? What I mean was that it had been heavy chemtrails all over the place in Madison for several days running. Knowing about HAARP and chemtrail applications, and the electromagnetic aspects of sevearl chemicals used, I began to think or rather dread to think along these lines. When I was watching the very "keyed up" auroras, I was thinking to myself, "is the whole planet watching a huge global HAARP experiment?"

Plus, that same night for what it's worth I saw my first "UFO." Three of them actually. Widely spaced apart, moving in perfect unison, without a sound. Each with the same red light dot on the bottom. As I was watching the aurora, "they" sort of went across it incredibly rapidly and soundlessly.

For the past couple of years, life has taken on a surreal quality. People don't seem to see or care what is happening to our world. Makes me think sometimes that we aren't living in the same one.

Some of us at ChemtrailstrackingUSA started noticing that animals, birds and fish were dying in large numbers. The explanations given all sound bogus. We are sure that their deaths - the majority of them anyway, are tied to chemtrails.

Where did you see contrails like this in the 70's?

I recall thin contrails dissipating relatively in place and I am having trouble recalling all those days when they were spreading out and covering up the whole sky. I would therefore need to assume they must have for the sake of agreement with others apparent accurate recollections, because I don't remember chemtails back then myself.

And someone please post recent photos of white puffy clouds, cmon now.

Like the ones over St Paul the day the russian tanks rolled into prague for instance. they were fantastic as I drifted in and out of a dream of peace. .

The first time that I can recall observing contrails which persisted, spread and merged into a layer of cirrus-like clouds:

I was on my way to school (in case anyone cares, the James Stoy School in Haddon Township NJ) one clear crisp autumn day a month or so into my 6th grade year (that would be the autumn of 1968, again, if anyone cares). While walking, I noticed an airplane high in the sky, flying approximately east to west leaving a contrail behind it. I also noticed two or three older contrails on roughly parallel courses.

Although that part of New Jersey sees quite a bit of air traffic, being located within easy driving distance of both Philadelphia International Airport and McGuire AFB, back then one would see only a couple of dozen jets or so in the course of a day. For someone interested in science and technology, as I was, a plane flying high enough to leave a trail- or one flying low along the airport approach path- was worth spending a minute or two to look at. I can still remember standing rapt on Hopkins Avenue in 1967 watching a Lockheed Constellation fly over- the second and last time that I ever saw one of those beautiful airplanes in the "flesh".

At lunchtime, we all spilled out of school, and I noticed that there was now a layer of cirrus-like clouds in the area of sky where I had seen the plane and the other contrails. The paths of the trails were still quite detectable as denser parts of the cloud formation, but cloud had formed around them and merged into a continuous cover.

Why did this stick in my memory? I was, as I've already mentioned, a scientifically curious kid, and I had recently read about clouds, how they form, and attempts at artificially "seeding" them to promote rainfall. My hypothesis was that I had witnessed a related phenomenon- the inadvertent "seeding" of clouds by the ice crystals in the contrails. That was enough to make it memorable.

Now, if I interpret that observation in the light of the chemmie-believer's dogma which holds that a "normal" contrail dissipates in seconds or minutes and that any contrail which persists or spreads is by definition a "chemtrail", I'm bound to conclude that the eevil eevil gubmint has been spraying us for at least 36 years- and that whatever it is that they're spraying must not be working very quickly.

Even a cursory attempt at research on the Web will quickly turn up evidence that this same behavior, held by the chemmies to be diagnostic of a "chemtrail", was observed as long ago as World War II:

So we're now obligated, if we continue to base our thinking on the chemmie gospel, to conclude that the Great Big Conspiracy stretches back over sixty years and involves significant portions of the Allied and Axis air forces, who, presumably, had nothing better to do at the time than to spray the Earth with chemicals on behalf of the Illuminati, or the Trilateral Commission, or whoever the scapegoat of the day might happen to be. Again, it's hard to escape the conclusion that it must not work very fast, if at all.

Expanding the putative conspiracy to that magnitude introduces problems of secret-keeping on a scale that makes even the most implausible of Moon Hoax theories look simple by comparison.

The latest ad hoc addition to the CT requires us to believe that aircraft having the external configuration of subsonic civilian transports are in fact traveling at circa Mach 2, without producing a well-known consequence of supersonic flight, and we're expected to believe this on the strength of purported measurements the technique of which is not described in a manner that comes anywhere near to permitting anyone to evaluate the likely accuracy of the measurements. A most convenient omission, as is the omission of any attempt to determine whether any commercial flights were expected to be in that place at that time.

So, what we have are two possible hypotheses. The first requires us to postulate a grand global conspiracy extending through the world's civil and military aviation establishments, involving thousands and thousands of people and through decades of time. A conspiracy which has somehow managed not to leave a single piece of verifiable positive evidence in support of what is a positive claim, and the putative purpose of which remains a mystery, or which changes according to the whim of the CT promoters.

The second is simply that a contrail, once formed, is a long, skinny cirrus cloud, and will grow, move, and dissipate in accordance with the physical laws governing the birth and death of clouds and the local conditions in that place and altitude, that the numbers of contrail sightings parallels the growth of the aviation industry and that the "suspicious" patterns observed are a consequence of the regularity of commercial aviation flight paths.

Which is more parsimonious?

When the chemmie believers' sole means of diagnosing a "chemtrail" is that its behavior violates their expectations of how a contrail "should" behave, what is the effect on their theory of the fact that these expectations are based on ignorance of the basic science involved?

The New York Times reported on September 24, 1992, that a Russian company was openly selling electronic equipment to manipulate the weather in a specific area. The Times noted that certain Russian farmers used the weather-control technology to alter the climate for better crop yields. A little over a month later, the Wall Street Journal reported that Russian company Elate Intelligence Technologies Inc. was selling weather-control equipment using the slogan "Weather made to order."

The Journal quoted Igor Pirogoff as saying that Hurricane Andrew, which did an estimated $17 billion in damage, could have been turned "into a wimpy little squall" by his company.

The U.S. Air Force admitted to CNN in July that it had broken up a storm over the Atlantic using products made by a company called Dyn-O-Mat. The company's website, dynomat.com, lists "environmental absorbent products" such as Dyn-O-Drought and Dyn-O-Storm.

With the grounding of virtually all civilian air flights in the immediate aftermath of the September 11 terrorist attacks, the bizarre speculation about what's happening in North American air space heightened. Columbus Alive received numerous citizen reports concerning airplanes "spraying" or leaving behind mysterious "chemtrails" or "contrail grids" in the sky. Some feared we were under biochemical attack while others postulated we were being inoculated against anthrax or some other biochemical hazard.

During a flight to Phoenix in early October, a Columbus Alive reporter noted that air traffic was like a nest of hornets over southwest Ohio and Indiana, with jets spraying everywhere. One plane appeared to be a Boeing KC-135 Stratotanker, a refueling plane.

What's the difference between a "chemtrail" and a normal contrail (or vapor trail), the wisps of condensation you expect to see in a jet's wake? Typically contrails can only form at temperatures below negative-76 degrees Fahrenheit and at humidity levels of 70 percent or more at high altitudes, according to National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration meteorologist Thomas Schlattes. Even in most ideal conditions, a jet contrail lasts no more than 30 minutes.

So what are the big, bilious trails that seem to hang indefinitely and slowly feather out and appear to turn into cirrus clouds? Or the contrails seemingly purposely splayed over cities in geometrically precise grid patterns? These are "chemtrails," and the mystery of their source and purpose has been fueling increasing speculation among government skeptics and on watchdog websites like chemtrailcentral.com, chemtrail.com and carnicom.com.

For the past decade, the official government response to inquiries about the jet contrails appearing across the continent is to attribute the phenomenon to increased commercial air traffic. In 1997 [the first year of Project Cloverleaf], the Christian Science Monitor reported (sic) [like a parrot without doing other research] the government's claim that the jet contrails were actually causing clouds to form.

Yet, in the month after the attack on the World Trade Center, there was very little commercial airline traffic and virtually no private civilian air flights. Still, white jets billowing lingering plumes frequently appeared in the skies over Columbus. An Alive reporter, using high-quality binoculars, could see that some of the white planes had orange markings. In addition to Stratotankers, KC-10 Extenders, another refueling plane, appeared to be used for spraying.

There's nothing new about these sightings. It may seem to be the stuff of X-Files-style paranoia or grist for conspiracy theorists (and skeptics like Jay Reynolds, writing at goodsky.homestead.com, have made thorough attempts to debunk the theories). But as chemtrail sightings become more common, mainstream scientists (and the mainstream press) are taking note. One scientist familiar with chemtrail experiments even agreed to speak with Columbus Alive (though he refused to allow his name to be used), saying that public disclosure of the experiments is inevitable and maybe imminent.

The Canadian Ottawa Citizen reported a "fervor over chemtrails" on May 16: "What one sees here reflects sightings across North America." The Citizen noted, "West Quebec Post publisher Fred Ryan reports that his readers have been photographing and comparing them [pictures of chemtrails], and such manifestations are listed on the web."

"Ground fallout [from the chemtrails] analyzed in the United States contained carcinogens and bacteria. Coincidentally in the past decade, most jet fuel was re-engineered to reduce fire hazards by adding a long-banned pesticide, which was reportedly also found in gel samples from chemtrails. Also found were toxic micro-fibers, much finer than asbestos," the Citizen wrote.

Chemtrail sightings have been reported in 14 NATO nations. Investigative reporter William Thomas notes that "Croatian chemtrails began the day after that country joined NATO."

Which begs one simple question: Why?

Explanations range from chemtrails' use in military communications applications to scientific experiments designed to control the weather, thwarting global warming or relieving droughts. [OR CREATING DROUGHTS FOR MILITARY WARMAKING ON COUNTRIES.]

When you see planes flying back and forth marking parallel lines, X-patterns and grids in a clear sky, that's aluminum oxide, according to the scientist. The goal is to create an artificial sunscreen to reflect solar radiation back into space to alleviate global warming. [and to alleviate political pressure on polluters--mostly the oil/coal industries that should be banned and switched over to cleaner energies.]

In some cases, barium may be sprayed in a similar manner for the purpose of "high-tech 3-D radar imaging. The barium can be used for a 'wire' to shoot an electromagnetic beam through to take 3-D images of the ground far over the horizon," according to the scientist.

Thomas, writing in the November-December 2001 issue of NEXUS New Times magazine, essentially confirmed this assessment of the activities at the Dayton air base. "The barium spread in exercises conducted out of Wright-Patterson Air Force Base acts as an electrolyte, enhancing conductivity of radar and radio waves," Thomas reported. "Wright-Pat has also long been deeply engaged in HAARP's electromagnetic warfare program."

Orville served as the White House's chief advisor on weather modification. He publicly admitted that the military was studying "ways to manipulate the charges of the earth and sky and so affect the weather through electronic beams to ionize and de-ionize the atmosphere."

Numerous other patents attempted to perfect "aerial spraying of liquids," like patent number 4412654, registered in November 1983: "A laminar microjet atomizer and method of aerial spraying involved the use of a streamlined body having a slot in the trailing edge thereof to afford a quiescent zone within the [airplane] wing and into which liquid for spraying is introduced."

Not to be outdone, a patent was filed in July 1986 detailing a "Liquid propane generator for cloud-seeding apparatus." The abstract reads: "Apparatus is provided for release of liquid propane from the holding chamber of a cloud-seeding rocket." A new and improved "liquid atomizing apparatus for aerial spraying" was patented in August 1990. "The generator is driven from a power take-off from the engine of the spraying aircraft, a drive assembly includes a device for controlling the speed of the generator relative to speed of the engine," reads patent number 4948050.

The breakup of the Soviet Union in the 1990s ushered in brave new opportunities in weather modification. The New York Times reported on September 24, 1992, that a Russian company was openly selling electronic equipment to manipulate the weather in a specific area. The Times noted that certain Russian farmers used the weather-control technology to alter the climate for better crop yields.

A little over a month later, the Wall Street Journal reported that Russian company Elate Intelligence Technologies Inc. was selling weather-control equipment using the slogan "Weather made to order." The Journal quoted Igor Pirogoff as saying that Hurricane Andrew, which did an estimated $17 billion in damage, could have been turned "into a wimpy little squall" by his company.

South Africa's Water Resource Commission admitted to being involved in the actual testing of "hygroscopic seeding particles from a seeding flare" in an October 1994 patent: "In a confidential technical trial which was conducted on a small isolated cloud formation above the Nelspriut area in the Transvaal province of the Republic of South Africa, two flares were ignited electrically from inside the aircraftto produce rain."

Russia's open selling of former Soviet military weather modification devices often made for interesting news stories. "Malaysia to battle smog with cyclones" is a headline in the November 13, 1997, Wall Street Journal. "The plan calls for the use of new Russian technology to create cyclones-the giant storms also known as typhoons and hurricanes-to cause torrential rains washing the smoke out of the air," the Journal reported.

By 1997, the great global reinsurance firms-the companies that insure the insurers, like the Swiss Reinsurance Company and Lloyd's of London-were complaining publicly of global warming and the added risk of climate-related insurance losses. Beating the drum in the U.S. for weather-modification technology to combat global warming was none other than the father of the H-bomb, Edward Teller. His public interest in the issue coincided with the December 1997 Kyoto Conference on global warming and greenhouse gas emissions.

In April this year, the New York Times described Teller as director emeritus of the Livermore Weapons Laboratory and "an ardent advocate of the Reagan administration's Star Wars anti-missile plan and, more recently, has promoted the idea of manipulating the earth's atmosphere to counteract global warming."

The U.S. Air Force admitted to CNN in July that it had broken up a storm over the Atlantic using products made by a company called Dyn-O-Mat. The company's website, dynomat.com, lists "environmental absorbent products" such as Dyn-O-Drought and Dyn-O-Storm.

As recently as November 13, another patent was filed outlining a "method of modifying weather." The abstract reads: "The polymer is dispersed into the cloud and the wind of the storm agitates the mixture causing the polymer to absorb the rain. This reaction forms a gelatinous substance which precipitate to the surface below. Thus, diminishing the cloud's ability to rain."

Sunbury resident Dan King remembers a stormy day in July when he was driving on a newly resurfaced section of I-71 and "the rainwater looked like dish soap water on the highway. I thought it was just from the resurfacing," he said, "but when I got out in the country I saw the same thing. Piles of suds at the side of the road."

The scientist who works at Wright-Patterson told Alive that barium stearate is basically a soap bonded to a metal and could have produced the soapy rain.

It's impossible to know which chemicals are being sprayed or for what reason since, according to the government, chemtrails don't exist. But, increasingly, government skeptics and other watchdogs are demanding to know if chemtrail spraying poses any health risks.

In his NEXUS New Times article, William Thomas wrote, "Chemtrails can cause drought by soaking up all available moisture, and drooping chemical curtains fall through vast colonies of UV-mutated bacteria, viruses and fungi living in the upper atmosphere. Could these malevolent micro-organisms be piggy-backing on the plumes?"

Thomas suggests that the spraying following September 11 has nothing to do with a deliberate biological attack or the inoculation of the American public. Rather, it's simply an ongoing attempt by humans to fool with Mother Nature.

I've been "watching the skies" since I long as I remember (I was born in 1972), and well, I have to say, "Sorry...you're wrong..." to people like P. Tarquinius Constans, dr and whoeverelse is desperately trying to debunk this. It's no longer a 'conspiracy theory' either, we've moved WAY beyond that. No, because of the daily spraying of these things flooding the sky, many days which started out clear and blue, not a cloud in the sky and a forecast which never called for cloud cover, what we are now dealing with here is a 'conspiracy probability' if not an outright 'apparent fuck you' operation by the powers that be.

There has NEVER been the kind of coverage we are now witnessing. NEVER a criss cross grid of 'cirrus' contrails that expand into the misty cotton candy coverage that we now witness (that cracks me up too, those who of you who honestly consider this legitimate clouds forming here) on a daily basis. The activity here in the U.S., by my count, had begun in 1996 or around that time. Interestingly enough, there are others who believe that was the timeframe as well.

And I'd really like to pose a question to all of you debunkers. I mean, I want to give you a fair chance to defend or support your argument here. People like Jay Reynolds are total disinformation agents and can't sufficiently support their argument that these are merely contrails we are seeing, so we'll let you have a go of it.

The question is, "What conditions would have to be present, that is, the atmospheric condition, for a contrail to occur and to remain for the length of time that WE chemtrail observers are witnessing on a daily basis?" To that question, add, "Can you then explain how this phenomena is happening world wide, and if that's too difficult, then just explain the statewide occurance here in the United States, as our climate, elevation, jet stream, surface albedo, humidity and other factors are so vastly different from state to state, yet SAME conditions seem to be present for ALL states?" If you can answer this, I will FOREVER drop the subject matter of what I call chemtrails as well and even go on the record to say I was wrong.

I've witnessed these things in New Jersey, Florida, Pennsylvania, New York, Vermont, Virginia, North and South Carolina so far, so I would HONESTLY like to know... as I can't recall the weather being the same in any of these states, each and every day, but the chemtrails have been.

I noticed alot of criticism on the theories proposed for the presence and origin of chemtrails and I hate to be yet another detractor since I do accept that it is possible that it is some sort of coordinated secret operation. But, I am naturally objective and skeptical in my assessments of such controversial subjects and I require that good science and logical thought ( and good grammar ) be brought to bear on these highly contestable subjects. OK, so in the introduction of the article it states that the planes involved are unidentifiable and yet if one clicks on the photo of the plane on e can clearly see the US Air Force logo on the underside of the wing on the right side. So in the future i think you should be a little more discerning about wghat you present as evidence to support your thoery. thanks

I don't know what to believe myself, but it seems to me more than coincidence that we are experiencing such abnormal weather trends worldwide. Whatever the trails are composed of I really do feel there is a link, and it alarms me to think our governments are so unforthcoming.

My question as a plain old citizen (opposed to a savy activist) is what can we do collectivly to investigate this on a large scale? (any links would be appreciated)

OK, so has anybody maybe raised the funds to charter an aircraft capable of supersonic flight and attempted to follow one of these "chemplanes" or at least fly through the trail to collect samples. It seems to me that would be an effective way to gather conclusive evidence on the composition of the chemtrail if not necessarily the origin of the planes themselves. And I'd also like to point out that in the article the claim is made that these planes seem to have no refueling needs and no point of origin. That's a pretty broad statement. Has the author or investigator actually followed one of these aircraft for enough time in the air to make this claim? To see if they never land or refuel? My guesss is no. Anyway, the chemtrail controversy is definitely intriguing but man, it only discredits the whole independent investigation of things like this and yes the UFO phenomena as well when unsupportable claims or accusations or whatever are made.

I do not believe this crap of no aircraft noise for one second nor do I believe that the aricract involved hve no VHF radio signal's and this is why.

I observr aircraft spraying Chemtrail's over Maine and New Hampshire quite often and the ones that fly directly overhead or close by can be heard, some are quite loud while others at a distance are not as audible, others at greater distances can not be heard but this business of jets that make no noise at all is laughable.

Now, as to VHF radio signals, the jets that are doing the spraying are using VHF radio transmissions, I have picked them up in-part on my modified 1000 channel radio scanner, however the signal seems to be operating through a highspeed computer controlled switching relay that keeps switching the radio frequency at a high rate of speed and can not be monitored with "Radio shack" technology, one would need the same kind of computer and program that they are using to monitor both air and ground communications, there is no Voodoo magic involved, it is a matter of "THEM" having superior technology, that's all.

Another thing that really bugs me about this "Combat Diaries special investigation of chemtrails" is that it has been stated that the large body aircraft doing the spraying are traveling at speeds of 1200-1400 mph, roughly the speed of
military fighters, I find this preposterous, I with others have clocked the speed's of the tanker type aircraft that we have observed to be doing the bulk of the spraying and the speed's are relatively comparable to those of commercial passenger aircraft which is between 375 to 460 MPH, not 1200 to 1400 MPH, I do not know who is responsible for clocking these aircraft but they need to go back to school and do a refresher course in math and science.

Certainly there is a Global Spraying operation ongoing within the atmosphere of our planet but I find this report highly embellished and not at all very credible, it does not speak very well to charter or professionalism of the people involved that conducted the investigation, if it were a high school science project I would give it a D-minus !

I do not purport to be a flight expert but.....much of this discussion centers around our version of "known science" or what we currentlty accept as science ,with no thought to the possibilities of advancements of which we know little or nothing. We cannot explain the absence of sound, the presence of incredible speed, and other things we accept as "normal". Also, who is to say that what we assume to be pseudo 757s are other aircraft disguised as 757s in order to appear to be familiar craft.There is much to be learned if ones mind is not locked into the notion that we know Physics as it will be 100 years from now. Things change, and I am not one who believes that our Earth and its inhabitants represent the epitome of knowledge in and of the universe. No...Seeing is not believing, but it beats the hell out of debunking without seeing ,experiencing or accepting a new belief. Remember..in 1,000 years, much of what we now call science will be ridiculed as stone-aged thinking.

Anyone see the PBS showing of "The Diming of the Sun?" Incotrovertible evidence that aircraft contrails do indeed effect the earth's climate by creating a barrier which has limited the sun's penetration to the surface of the earth while also trapping gases within this barrier. The suspected effects include measurably decrease temperatures in specific areas and increased drought condintions caused by the now decreased natural fluctuations of ocean currents (Central and East Africa). Please check out this show to help make the "Global Warming" nasayers aware of logical, scientifically demonstrated cause/effect. Also - This phenomenon sounds suspiciously like the plot of the 1996 movie "The Arrival" where the aliens are inducing "terraforming" of the earth to meet their requirements of a hotter climate!!
