i am so sick of all the corporate media articles being reposted to this site. Corporate media is poison. It's not just that it lies, it's that it limits. The range of possibilities is narrow in the world as outlined by the corporate media. No wonder people get depressed. We're not hearing the true stories of resistance and positive change. All we're getting is propaganda, clumsily veiled under a thin veneer of pretense they claim is "objectivity" or "balance" or "fairness". It's hogwash! Stop reading corporate media. Stop watching it. Read independent media, and use indymedia to become the media yourself. There's plenty of alternative media sites to go to for information. i found this list at World Crisis Web (http://www.world-crisis.com/). i don't know if i personally agree that every source here is good (Common Dreams, for example, can post corporate media bullshit even when good independent journalism is available), but it seems like a good start. We must first free ourselves if we want to help free others. And we must first free our minds before we can address the other shackles.

but can you give specific examples of what you mean? most of the corporate media source stories which end up being reposted here get heavily de-constructed in COMMENTS on those pieces.
also, many of the corporate story re-posts primarily come from many of the sites you listed (i.e. lots of them are not *totally* 'original' in their reporting) - many of which are partially or completely 'clearinghouses' for global mainstream or corporate news, including:
Axis of Logic
Common Dreams
Information Clearing House
Media Monitors
Propaganda Matrix
What Really Happened
again, I'm not disagreeing with the basic premise of your post - and we always appreciate the re-posting of important sources, which you've done above, that you and I use every day -
but some useful de-constructing and criticism does occur when a mainstream news story is posted here.
it's not always possible - or even always desireable, to simply provide commentary on a mainstream news story or briefly excerpt it, especially when the story is of an investigative nature.
furthermore, in the case of corporate news stories of great interest to the activist, investigative, or anti-war communities, I personally find it USEFUL AND HELPFUL for the article TEXT to be reposted on Indymedia, with its original source URL link also provided,
SO THAT I AM NOT REQUIRED TO LOG ON (or use 'password' account sign-ups) TO A CORPORATE NEWS WEB SITE IN ORDER TO EVEN BEGIN TO READ OR COMPREHEND THE STORY IN THE FIRST PLACE.
comprende?
Indymedia content, by its nature and definition, is up to the editing choices of it users and readers
Please, everyone - be JUDICIOUS and CAREFUL about which mainstream-sourced news stories you CHOOSE to re-post on the Indymedia news wire.
ONLY the very most crucial, or deserving of de-construction.
please don't clog up the wire with repetetive re-posts of unimportant dreck.
