Israel re-arrests Vanunu

Last Updated Thu, 11 Nov 2004 19:33:41 EST

JERUSALEM - Heavily armed Israeli police commandos stormed a Jerusalem church compound on Thursday and re-arrested nuclear whistle blower Mordechai Vanunu.
Vanunu is alleged to have revealed more classified information seven months after completing an 18-year prison sentence for treason. He was immediately taken before a magistrate, who ordered him confined to the church hostel and be placed under house arrest for seven days.

"They want to punish me again. They cannot punish me twice. I suffered 18 years in an Israeli prison. I have the right now to be free and to leave Israel. All that I want is to leave Israel, to go free. They cannot give me freedom of speech, they should let me leave Israel," he told reporters.
