Protestors: Do NOT take the bait!

Alright, Listen.
We need to remember what our cause is. We are trying to show the public what we think of our sick government, and show that we are a democracy. THIS is our fight. Please people, do not succumb to the policemans trap. When we allow ourselves to get side tracked and distracted, IE screaming something along the lines of "Free the horses" or "This is what a police state looks like", or pausing your march to yell at the riot cops , we mix our messages and what we portray to other people. Each protest thus far has become a fight between the People and the Police. Do not let this happen! The popo will be there regardless. We need to keep our message clear. There is strength in organization, and in numbers. A cop said to me today, "I think we are just better organized than you." This is the sad truth. We need to rally more people and perhaps work out a system of walkie talkies/ cell phones amongst the people in charge. Collaberate!! the time is now. Our protests will not be effective if they continue in this manner.

I think everyone should work for a January 20th protest. Meet with your group once a week, make signs, puppets, noise makers what ever you can.

Get as many people as possible involved. There needs to be one defining moment. Protesting between now and then is only going to burn people out. We need to save everything up and let it all out at once. The advantage the cops have are numbers, one cop can control 20 protesters. We need 50-100 protesters for every police officer.

Make your J20 flyers now, get the word out.

i agree ... the pigs need to forget their intimidation tactics and get off the horses... but its something we should not try to deal with during the heat of a protest!

we're ineffective?

Allowing ourselves to be molded, controlled, pushed around, being submisive, quiet, complacent, that is the trap. Democracy is a lie, ours is anyway. What we have is a complicated system of lies and deceit, when we follow this system, we loose. When we protest according to your (thier) rules- we are making the loudest statement of all, WE DON'T CARE.
Protest is rediculous and ineffective, do you think anyone is really watching us march and thinking "Boy, war really must be wrong. I guess we should stop" No, they are thinking "crap, they are ruining our shopping experience" or "they are so confused"... they ARE the people who helped elect Bush.
So, it really is us and them; us being the people who want to stop being screwed with, them being the cops, shop owners, car drivers, etc. who screw with us. We are trying to make a point, and turning up the heat is the only thing which will achieve this.
I don't care if what you do is non-violent or inoffensive. Just don't give us shit for acting in the appropriate maner in accordance with the situation. I think that we need much more organization, for sure, but that doesn't mean dictating a lawfull march, that means figuring out how to trick the cops instead of vice-versa. That means hitting the capitalitsts hard, where it counts.
Patriotic dissent? Bullshit. Why don't we all just handcuff ourselves, maybe march single file into thier cruisers, that would be pretty damn peacefull, lawfull, patriotic.

Of course, what we REALLY need is anti-authoritarian community empowerment.

So just don't give me your passive "peacefull protest" crap. It doesn't work, cops shoot, spray, harass, beat and discriminate against peacefull protesters along with anyone else they disslike. It doesn't change the system in ANY WAY and if you're too blind to see that, than you should probably just stay home, leave the streets to those of us who care.

I'd rather have anarchists than Christian Zionists 06.Nov.2004 21:42

(where do "liberals" or "progressives" fit - besides irrelevancy?)

don't forget to STOP BUYING THEIR STUFF 07.Nov.2004 01:34

If you are buying your groceries at a store like Safeway, or your clothes at a corporate store, you are helping them fund oppression against us. Groceries can be bought at a local co-op (such as People's, Alberta Cooperative, or Food Front), clothes from stores that are independent, locally owned, and buy fair-trade items. If you are still relying on gas-powered transportation, FOR THE SAKE OF ALL THAT IS HOLY WOULD YOU QUIT ALREADY!? Find a way to not need a motorized vehicle, or supposing that's impossible (you make your living constructing cob houses, whatever) trade in that gas-sucker for a diesel engine equivalent and begin running biodiesel, which can be made from the oil of plants, thus employing farmers, and is much cleaner burning.
