Today marks the 60th Birthday of "World Vegan Day."
A website states, "Happy Diamond Jubilee !",
"Make a difference in the 60th vegan year 1944 - 2004!",
and that "World Vegan Day" is the 1st of November, (2004)and will be The Vegan Society's 60th birthday - the website also proclaims that "We plan to double the number of vegans worldwide by the end of the year but we need your help. Try to encourage one of your friends to try veganism in 2004."

A website located on the internet at a website address of  http://www.worldveganday.com/ informs viewers that "www.World Vegan Day.com is an international focal point for celebrating veganism. Donald Watson formed the word vegan and founded The Vegan Society in November 1944. People felt that was worth commemorating, so it has been, on 1st November, every year since the 50th Anniversary in 1994."

The website also offers users to "rejoice in a healthy lifestyle that avoids unnecessary animal suffering and the wasteful use of the world's resources", and the adapt the site to their needs.

There will be events happening in different places around the world during this week to Promote, Encourage, and Inform others; of eating habits and their impact on resources, which some view as a whole different life style choice. There will also be literature explaining reasons and how-to be a vegan yourself handed out or availiable at many different locations.

According to a local Portland man who tried to briefly explain the concept said, "One claiming to be a "Vegan" does not use or eat products or food involving animals in the production or process of producing something."
