The Portland 9-11 Truth Alliance is pleased to present the following films free of charge, in the interest of furthering discussion on the most crucial political issues of the day: the end of cheap conventional hydrocarbon extraction, the rise of an imperialist U.S. foreign policy, the continued curtailments of American civil liberties, and the failure of the U.S. government to truly investigate the crimes of 9-11. The last five showings consist of a documentary, followed by a slide presentation taken from David Ray Griffin's book, The New Pearl Harbor.

October 28th - Bush Family Fortunes / Unprecedented
In Bush Family Fortunes, follow award-winning reporter-sleuth Greg Palast on the trail of the Bush family, from Florida election finagling, to the Saudi connection, to the Bush team?s spiking the FBI investigation of the bin Laden family and the secret State Department plans for post-war Iraq.

Focusing on rampant, court-sanctioned abuses of the democratic process in Florida, Unprecedented directors Richard Ray Perez and Joan Sekler present a thorough reexamination of the circumstances that allowed the election of George W. Bush, including the Gore campaign's fatal failure to request the state-wide recount to which the Democratic party was legally entitled.

November 4th - What I Learned About U.S. Foreign Policy
A two-hour compilation by Frank Dorrel, featuring: Martin Luther King Jr.; John Stockwell, Ex-CIA Station Chief; Bill Moyers on "The Secret Gevernment"; Coverup: Behind the Iran-Contra Affair; School of Assassins; Genocide by Sanctions; Amy Goodman, host of Democracy Now; The Panama Deception; Ramsey Clark, former U.S. Attorney General; and S. Brian Wilson, Vietnam Veteran for Peace

November 11th - The Great Conspiracy / New Pearl Harbor lecture 1
Barrie Zwicker analyses the use of fear to befuddle the public, and deconstructs the so-called "war on terrorism" as a public control mechanism. He then examines in depth the failure of the military to function on 9/11 and the entirely inappropriate behaviour of the president and his aides that day. Finally, the resistance of the White House to any proper investigation, the extreme taintedness of the 9/11 commission and its drastic underperformance are examined. Throughout, the compliance and complicity of the mainstream media in maintaining a trance of ignorance is addressed. Following the video presentation there will be a brief historical review of American conspiracies, with a gentle introduction to 9-11 skepticism. over
November 18th - Hijacking Catastrophe / New Pearl Harbor lecture 2
Hijacking Catastrophe examines how a radical fringe of the Republican Party used the trauma of the 9/11 terror attacks to advance a pre-existing agenda to radically transform American foreign policy while rolling back civil liberties and social programs at home. The documentary places the Bush Administration's false justifications for war in Iraq within the larger context of a two-decade struggle by neoconservatives to dramatically increase military spending in the wake of the Cold War, and to expand American power globally by means of military force. The second NPH lecture will review the events in New York City on 9-11, with particular emphasis on the failure of the air force to intercept the hijacked planes.

December 2nd - The Oil Factor / New Pearl Harbor lecture 3
The Oil Factor: Behind the War on Terror examines the link between oil interests and current U.S. military interventions. It includes original footage shot over a four-month period in Iraq, Pakistan and Afghanistan as well as many interviews with a large array of personalities including Bush administration officials. The documentary explores the various underlying motives behind George Bush's so-called "war-on-terror" and offers insights as to why global terrorism is thriving and why the world is becoming a more and more unsafe place. "The Oil Factor" also makes a clear assessment of today's global oil situation with sky-rocketing consumption and declining production. The third NPH lecture will examine whether the Pentagon and Pennsylvania crashes provide additional reasons to doubt the official story.

December 9th - The End of Suburbia / New Pearl Harbor lecture 4
What would you do without the oil that fuels our society? This is increasingly becoming a relevant, non-academic question, as oil prices climb steadily in the face of limited supply and unlimited demand. 95% of our transportation system runs on oil. Every calorie of food we eat requires between four and ten calories of non-renewable energy in its production. Will this cause the end of suburbia, and how will we adapt? NPH lecture four examines the many warnings that U.S. intelligence received, the obstructions of key FBI investigations, and the all-important motive of Peak Oil.

December 16th - Orwell Rolls In His Grave / New Pearl Harbor lecture 5
Commenting on Michael Moore?s ?Fahrenheit 9/11,? Peter Rainer wrote, ?The manipulation of the shocked-and-awed press deserves a movie of its own.? And lo and behold, we have a good one: Robert Kane Pappas? committed documentary about the media. The final NPH lecture wraps up the evidence in support of some level of government complicity in the events of 9-11, and reviews evidence that has come to light since Griffin?s book was published.

All events are free (well, you can donate to cover the cost of the hall if you like), and take place every Thursday except Thanksgiving at 7:15 pm through mid-December at the Multnomah Friends Meeting Hall, 4312 SE Stark, Portland.
