BOOKS NOT BARS Human Rights video project- Today at 2 pm at Central Library -

the Human Rights Video Project will be screening a documentary called BOOKS NOT BARS- focusing on the growth of the US prison industrial complex through the eyes of youth who are working to reverse the trend.
a guest speaker from Western Prison Project will lead a discussion of the issues surrounding the US prison industry and WPP's role in the grassroots, multiracial movement to achieve prison reform and reduce the over-relience of incarceration in Oregon and other western states.

Portland Books To Prisoners will be tabling literature along with benefit raffle tickets at this event - prizes have been donated by local businesses and non-profits in Portland, and the drawing will happen the first week of November at a time and location TBA.
