I really enjoyed the evening, and would have liked to see Ruth's album and flyers, after the talks. However, the bus takes 2 hours from there to get home! Police were an overwhelming presence at the RNC protests. Ruth had to walk 50 blocks out of her way because of them. Artaro (sp?) was there for Indymedia coverage, and got some picture shots of bloody heads. When he was arrested, his camera and cell phone were knocked away. When he asked for the camera, the cop stomped repeatedly on it. The wrist plastic ties are initially so tight it numbs one's hands. He was put in a little cage and then transfered on buses. Without water, he has a medical condition and was hospitalized, only to be later placed back in Pier 57. How horrible. The slides were shots not seen on major publications. Creativity was evident in the clothing attire of many. One group had bomb-rockets protuding from their hips. They were called something Dick Chicks (?)
A guy who kicked the head of a civilian-dressed motorcyclist (who drove into protesters) is still detained.
