Please join us Tuesday evening September 7th, from
6:30 to 8:30 pm, for a free "Honor Labor" Concert at
St. Francis Church, located on the corner of SE 12th
and Pine, 2 blocks north of Stark St. in Portland.

The free concert, which closes the St. Francis Concert
in the Park series for this summer, features original
and traditional music, fresh comedy by well known
Portland comedian and comedy coach, Joe Rastatter,
sing-alongs and stories from representatives of Jobs
With Justice and VOZ. Audience members are invited to
bring picnics and encouraged to wear their union
affiliation insignia or their work uniforms, to be
honored at intermission for the significant and
important work they do in our community. There will be
a free dessert offered at intermission. In the case of
rain, the concert will be held in the sanctuary of St.
Francis church.

Joe Rastatter, Board member of Jobs With Justice and
St. Francis Pastoral Board member, serves as Emcee for
the entire evening. Kicking off the night will be the
popular musical group General Strike, composed of 8-10
active union members and musicians. Kathleen Juergens,
active participant in Art & Revolution, will perform
her distinctive bi-lingual, original music. Gina
Parks, member of AFSCME, will offer powerful acapella
songs guaranteed to knock your socks off. Special
guests will join in with local comedian and Traveling
Musicians union member Melinda E. Pittman. Melinda is
a local composer/singer and awarding winning
playwright, and the Artistic Director of BroadArts
Theatre. Her comedy musical WONDERBROADS, continues to
tour regionally and national, and her most current
shows, "Homeland In~Security" a dramady about women
peacemakers, and "Fat and Sassy," a comedy musical
about women of substance, are both performing in the
Portland area this September and October.

Please join us at this day-after-Labor Day free
