The New York IndyMedia website has been ordered by the U.S. Secret Service to hand over the personal information of all users of their website...The Secret Service (S.S.) has alleged that lists of names of Republican Delegates to the Republican National Convention and the hotels where they are staying have been published on the New York IndyMedia website. The ACLU of New York is defending the website.
First of all, why is the U.S. Secret Service monitoring this website? Second, why is the U.S. Secret Service involved at all? Shouldn't that be the jursdiction of the F.B.I.? Third, as a former delegate to the State of Washington Democratic Convention, my personal information was shared with all the political candidates running for office as well as the WA State Democratic Party. So, how is it that these delegates names and hotels where they are staying at protected information...?
Is this government intimidation? I urge my friends down in Portland to come to the aid of the New York IndyMedia website...They are probably going to order this website to do the same...
