UPN 49 and KINK FM 102 Partner with Cruelty

UPN 49 and KINK Radio partner with animal cruelty by supporting Ringling Brothers and Barnum & Bailey Circus. Please contact them and urge them not to support cruelty!
UPN 49, also known as KPDX TV, has partnered with Ringling Brothers and Barnum & Bailey Circus, offering free tickets to non-profit Children's Charities.  http://www.kpdx.com/Global/link.asp?L=129480. KINK FM 102 invites you to celebrate the Greatest Show on Earth by bringing kids downtown to Nordstrom's for fun and games and ticket giveaways to the circus.

When you choose to partner with Ringling Brothers circus, you choose to partner with cruelty! Ringling has a long substantiated history of animal care violations.

In August 2004, an 8-month old baby elephant named Ricardo was destroyed after suffering severe and irreparable fractures to both hind legs when he fell off a circus pedastal.

Only last month, a healthy young lion named Clyde died en route to a performance. Frank Hagan, a veteran Ringling employee and lion handler who has signed an affadavit stating that he was present when a 2-year old lion named Clyde died on the Ringling train, reports that Clyde's death was a result of negligence. Clyde died while the circus was traveling through the Mojave Desert, where temperatures outside peaked at 109 degrees F. The lions were not checked on because the caravan was behind schedule, and it is believed that Clyde died a slow painful death of dehydration and heatstroke. What's more, Hagan says, the circus apparently tampered with evidence and interfered with the USDA's investigation. For more information on Clyde visit  http://www.circuses.com/feat/ringling/index.asp

The list goes on and on. For a complete listing of violations visit  http://www.circuses.com/feat/ringling/page/RinglingFactsheet_Web.pdf.

Please Contact UPN 49 and KINK and urge them not to support circuses that use animals in the future. Tell them that being financially supported by a company with a documented history of animal abuse tarnishes their credibility and limits their ability to report fairly on animal welfare issues.
