forest defense

If you go on the Mazama's walk, advertised on today's calendar...

ask them why they threatened to sue Mazama Forest Defense for trademark infringement.
They (www.mazamas.org) portray themselves as an outdoor experience organization, yet they threatened to put the smack down on a grass-roots forest protection organization last summer. The group, named after the First Nations name for Crater Lake, ceased to exist. There were probably additional reasons, but the threat of legal action surely didn't help. Finally, there's starting to be a group down there again, called Wild Siskiyou Action, but it took a while. It'd be nice to hear their rationale for that threat, so if someone goes on the hike, please ask and post the response here...
