Join us on June 30 to learn more about how you can help the new Willamette Electric People's Utility District campaign bring affordable, reliable and accountable public power to inner east side Portland. We're working to establish a publicly-owned utility in the section of Portland which voted "yes" to forming the Multnomah County PUD last November. Willamette Electric PUD Campaign Volunteer Meeting

Wednesday, June 30 from 7:00-9:00 p.m.

Lucky Labrador Brewpub, 915 SE Hawthorne Blvd.

Join us to learn more about how you can help the new Willamette Electric People's Utility District campaign bring affordable, reliable and accountable public power to inner east side Portland. We're working to establish a publicly-owned utility in the section of Portland which voted "yes" to forming the Multnomah County PUD last November. It's time to let residents vote "yes" again this November! The Willamette Electric PUD campaign will help to reduce rates, gain local control over our energy and protect residents from further abuses by Enron (PGE's current owner) and Texas Pacific Group (which is trying to purchase PGE).

For more information and a map of the proposed PUD territory, please see www.wepud.org

PGE/Enron spent over $1.6 million to defeat the Multnomah County PUD, and claims it will spend "whatever it takes" of your ratepayer money to defeat any new PUD efforts. The Willamette Electric PUD is a vigorous grassroots campaign which refuses to be intimidated by PGE/Enron's deep pockets. If Tom Potter can prevail against a million dollar candidate like Jim Francesconi, then the Willamette Electric PUD can succeed in an area that has already voted "yes" to public power!

But, we need YOUR help to win! The campaign needs support in a variety of roles. Those include door-to-door canvassers, business and community outreach coordinators, graphic designers, technical support, event organizers and people to perform general tasks such as data entry, stuffing envelopes and delivering lawn signs. Whatever time, talents and energy you have available would be helpful! Financial contributions would also be deeply appreciated.

Please join us on Wednesday, June 30 from 7 to 9 p.m. to learn more. For more info, please call (503) 235-0962 or email  info@wepud.org.

Thanks,
Jeff Cropp
WEPUD campaign manager
