A coalition of Chief Petitioners and voters have filed suit in U.S. District Court in Portland against Bill Bradbury, the Oregon Secretary of State, to stop implementation of his entirely new and completely unjustified policies that are trashing tens of thousands of valid signatures on statewide initiative petitions for no coherent reason.
These new procedures include throwing out entire sheets of signatures of voters, merely because the circulator's pen slipped while she was writing the date on her signature at the bottom of the sheet.
The coalition includes proponents of the following initiatives, among others:
Oregon Rainforest Initiative
Medical Marijuana Act 2
Restore Term Limits
Repeal Multnomah County Income Tax
They will conduct a press conference to discuss this suit:
DATE: Thursday, June 24, 2004
TIME: 11:00 a.m.
PLACE: 320 S.W. Stark, Suite 202
