update 13.Jun.2004 11:01

repost from rainbow list

ord from the site is that firewood, and wood in general, is a bit hard to get, so this may be a good year for kitchens to utilize propane as much as possible. There may also be a fire ban put into effect at any time for that part of CA.

just a note 22.Jun.2004 07:20

Just got back from the site, active logging is happening, so avoiding typical logging hours is probably a good idea.

Make sure to come prepared for high mountain weather. The elevation is 7600 ft.

permit has been signed by unknown individual 22.Jun.2004 07:21

Gathering Update June 21

In a very interesting twist of events, a woman
name Alison in Washington, DC has signed a permit
for the Annual Gathering of the Tribes.

Sources say she has never been to a gathering before,
is not currently at this year's gathering, and was
pressured into signing by Radio Station owner Jeff Kline
- an individual with close connections to the US Forest Service.

Is the forest service so desperate to make it appear
that the Rainbow Gathering is in compliance that they
accept a permit application from an individual with no
connection to the gathering?

What next, a autocrat from Washington enters into
negotiations with the Forest Service for the local church picnic?

Tom Contreras of the Modoc National Forest withheld
information from attendees of the gathering that a permit
had been issued and that the US Forest Service Law Enforcement
officers threatened Jeff Kline with a shut down of the
gathering if he didn't pony up a signer.

Inquiring minds want to know.

A scouts Perpective of the Modoc National Gathering 28.Aug.2004 18:51

Stonebear Stonybear69@yahoo.com

With Respect The Councils of all Native peoples were contacted in regards to our intention on gathering on National Forest in their homeland regions. Few ever expressed interest in correspondance. WE gathered at a site that our scouts felt adequate ..just as in sure scouts for thousands of years felt about the lovely area that was selected...we sat at that site for weeks awaiting ANYONE!! to show who cared as to what we intended..And when we concluded the local forest service rangers commended us on the clean up and natural restorative work of the area by our loving and caring family. I was first there to witness the vast manipulation by certain arrogant governmental officials..they were the ones that had little understanding of the area..we were the ones living and breathing the spirit there and it was good..We prayed great caution on every inch of that land. The Fear, LIES and Manipulation INSTILLED in the Pitt river people by their lands federal captors Caused great unnecessary stress on the Pitt River People and the Rainbow whom many felt helpless against their opposition to the miracles we DO perform in our sacred meadows every day..Irregards of what the feds steer people to believe of our intentions..THE TIME TO UNIFY FOR ALL THE WORLDS CHILDRENS BETTER FUTURE IS NOW!! I hope the council of the Indigenous people manifests all your peoples hopes and aspirations. And I pray that your people know that we are struggling for the same goal.
I am still glad we came to the land. All of us to that most sacred place for the mysterious reason that compelled us to I pray will unfold a bright blossom for all of our inheritors future
