Starbucks And The Mythical Molotov Cocktail

It's about time some of the myth's concerning Starbucks getting firebombed are cleared up.
First off I would like to say that Starbucks was not, I repeat WAS NOT firebombed by a molotov cocktail, or by anything since its exsistence in seven corners.

How do I know? Simple, I saw the video on May 5th,2004 at 11:00 p.m. on channel 8. The very video that sits in the hands of the corporate media. Video which was filmed by the corporate media, and spinned by the corporate media as an act of so called arson against starbucks.

It's all bullshit.

Like I said I saw the video and yes a bottle was thrown at starbucks smashing one of their windows. The bottle that was thrown was a wine bottle that was wrapped in a bag, corked. Looks like it was mostly if not all empty when some passer-by decided to get rid of it. There was no sign of any fire damage on the bag, or around the store.

The next time someone tells you that "Starbucks was firebombed" or that "someone threw a molotov cocktail at starbucks" tell them that that's a total flat out bullshit lie and rumor. If they tell you otherwise ask for proof. When they say "that's not what the news said," tell them that their own video proves, and shows THERE WAS NO MOLOTOV COCKTAIL, just a bottle in a bag.

I just thought I'd clear this up since a lot of people in the community are jumping to conclusions within the neighborhood and around the city concerning the new starbucks in sevencorners over this issue.

too badd

it should have been a molotov.... but remember to break the windows first kids, that way the target gets nice and warm inside.

that helps 09.May.2004 10:38

can't say too bad, but it's surprizing it wasn't the real thing...somebody's not listening...whatever yuppies want...there's more than just them living in that neighborhood...people with the strings don't listen...continuing to fail to do that should coincide with a decision on the part of starbucks to raise their fire insurance coverage.

Okay 09.May.2004 12:41

So

Okay, so... this was an exaggeration created by Starbucks to promote sympathy for itself? Ahhh... and discredit those who potest it's presence... Terrorists, just call them terrorists and you've got it made, eh?

Neighbor Wrong 09.May.2004 13:12

I was there didn't just watch tv

Neighbor is dead wrong. Starbucks was struck by a molitov cocktail. It broke the west window and shattered, starting the outside of the building on fire. Fortunately only the excellerant was burning when the fire bureau arrived and put out the flames. Anyone who doubts this can check with the fire bureau. If it wasn't firebombed then why is the fire bureau's ARSON INVESTIGATOR the lead investigator in this case?

camera dud

I was the first "official" news to arrive. kgw got thier 20min after me. I was in N.E. when the fire dept was sent. got thier about 7-10 minutes after them, first arrival they had somthing on fire on the west side of the building over on 20th had a hose line out and had lots of water on the sidewalk. arson and fire investigators arrived shortly after thier was a whitness.

cocktail or not there was somthing on fire near the building around the same time as the windows got broken.

over heard one of the cops asking if tre arrow was still in jail. I though that was humorous maybe I'm getting cynical.

What? And spoil all the fun? 10.May.2004 15:30

:p

But jumping to conclusions is all the exercise some of these people get!

there were 2 other windows broken later that early morning...these had NO firedamage.just to clear that up.

Starbucks in Ohio burned to the ground 26.Jul.2004 14:44

Happy dude

I don't know about your Starbucks out in Portland, but the one in Columbus, Ohio burned to the ground. The fire dept. said it was caused by a molotov cocktail. I guess we got it right by making sure the north window was broken before tossing the cocktail. The building is a burnt shell and I don't think Starbucks is planning on rebuilding.
