Cascadia RiSiNG! EcoDefense is a collaboration of forest defenders spanning the cascade mountains bio-region. We use citizen surveys, protests, tree-sits, road blockades, and grassroots education to protect our remaining wild spaces. We have a regional support office in Portland that exists to support forest defenders across Cascadia and to help new folks get involved and get educated on the issues. No experience is necessary to defend our last wild places and you don't have to go to jail!

Deforestation causes global warming TOO! 22.Apr.2004 21:04

Greenhouse Gas Generator

Trees absorb carbon dioxide taking it out of the atmosphere. Anthropogenic carbon dioxide causes global warming when it is in the atmosphere. Global warming is bad. I encourage the Cascadia Rising to go to the movie theater May 28th and as many days they can and use the opportunity that "The Day After Tomorrow" global warming, fictional but at least it mentions it as part of its plot and that its really bad, movie has afforded to raise awareness about global warming and all the bad things that contribute to it and ironically threaten even more of them seeing as global warming could make more trees die because of the rapid change of their climates. Trees don't have legs. 150 million people that are projected to become environmental refugees do but they won't be happy that they can't live in their home anymore because 4% of the population (America) generates 25% of the anthropogenic carbon dioxide and cuts down a whole lot of the things that absorb it too. This is a chance to show these pop culture/paper/wood consuming movie-going public what's up. Pass out reused paper flyers. Have signs with forest-causing-global warming. Trees are life. State PIRGS will have a new website about it.  http://www.wecanstopglobalwarming.org i think. doesn't work yet but look out for it.
