Tre Arrow's Bail Hearing Set for Thursday

Environmental activist and Oregon ex-patriot Tre Arrow will appear for a bail hearing in Victoria B.C. Thurday, April 15th at 2pm, he aslo expects to have an imigration hearing later that day. Supporters are concerned that the US may use this as an opportunity to extridite him to the US, where he faces other charges
statement from Tre Arrow :
"My involvement in peaceful, non-violent activism is well-documented. Any attempt to label or brand me as a terrorist is only an effort to discredit my reputation and detract from the effective campaigns I've been involved with.

The fact is that our only home, earth mother, is continuously being poisoned and ravaged, animals are suffering and going extinct, and humans are plagued with diseases as a result of corporate greed and outright ruthlessness. We are living in a culture where corporate agendas place property and profits above all life, including human life. This is a violation of our basic human rights.

I encourage the media to get involved and report on some of the very crucial issues currently affecting B.C. citizens. Some of these issues include the pollution and contamination of the water and air by Norskee Canada, right here on Vancouver Island; the slashing of welfare and attempts by the liberals to privatize healthcare; and the proposed "Working Forests Initiative" which has passed the first stages of legislation and will literally turn almost all the public land in B.C. over to private companies. This will allow some of the last bit of ancient forest left in North America to be destroyed, it will allow drilling and mining in sensitive ecosystems, and will violate indigenous rights to unceded land.

We all have a responsibility to stand up against these injustices and the corporate take-over of government. For when there is no safe food to eat, no clean water to drink, and no pure air to breathe, where will we go?"

Supporters in the US and Canada will pause at 2pm Thurday to hold a good thought for a positive outcome from his hearings, and to manefest his fredom and safety. We would like to invite all of you reading this to do the same. Whatever your spiritual traditions, please hold Tre in your heart and thoughts Thurday.
Today it is he who is cought in the cross hairs, but it could just as easily be any one of us, his fate and ours are inextricably intwind.

Solidarity

Any idea what the bail might be set at? If he can be bailed out, I want very much to contribute. I want him out of that jail the instant he is able. The thing is, like many indy readers, I don't have a lot of "extra" money lying around. So I am not able to kick in anything until it is clear that he will actually receive a bail amount. At that time, I'm willing to scrape together whatever it takes, as I'm sure, are we all. Please post the instant anything is known. It would be great to have him out of there the very second that bail is announced.
