Nothing Can Prevent Iran from Finding Access to Modern Technology: President Khatami
TEHRAN, March 25 (Mehr News Agency) - The Islamic Republic of Iran is determined to find access to modern science and technology and nothing can prevent it from this move, President Mohammed Khatami said Thursday in a meeting with newly-appointed North Korean ambassador, Kim Chong- ryong, to Iran.
Khatami praised the development of ties between Tehran and Pyongyang since the advent of Islamic revolution in Iran. Khatami also said the enhancement of mutual ties would benefit the two countries and help establish peace in the two regions of the world.
The president also said Iran would support North Korea's attempts for the establishment of peace and unity in the Korean Peninsula.
Those countries which want to remain independent will come under pressure, president said while receiving the credentials of the North Korean ambassador. Khatami said Iran and North Korea have decided to remain independent with a reliance on their nations.
The Iranian president said Iran has always called for peace based on justice and will resist those who want to impose violence and war against its nation.
Khatami denounced any form of terrorism especially those by governments and said the assassination of Hamas spiritual leader Sheik Ahmed Yassin on Monday demonstrated an ugly face of state terrorism by the Zionist regime. Unfortunately, Khatami said, this savage act is confirmed and supported by Washington.
