TEHRAN, March 25 (Mehr News Agency) - The Islamic Republic of Iran is determined to find access to modern science and technology and nothing can prevent it from this move, President Mohammed Khatami said Thursday in a meeting with newly-appointed North Korean ambassador, Kim Chong- ryong, to Iran.

The president also said Iran would support North Korea's attempts for the establishment of peace and unity in the Korean Peninsula.

Those countries which want to remain independent will come under pressure, president said while receiving the credentials of the North Korean ambassador. Khatami said Iran and North Korea have decided to remain independent with a reliance on their nations.

The Iranian president said Iran has always called for peace based on justice and will resist those who want to impose violence and war against its nation.

Comrades of al-masakin,

This is fanatastic!

The Iranian Stance against the Zionist Entity and the DPRK anti-US stance are really solid.

The loss of Sheik Ahmed Yassin, is a tragedy for which the Zionists will surely and must pay. We have created a Sheik Ahmed Yassin Tribute Page on the Website of the Iraqi Resistance Solidarity Network. Noting the Solid stance of Al-Masakin in regards to the conflict against the Zionist Entity and the US Imperialists it would be a real honor to post al-masakin's thoughts on this matter, and also perhaps the have statements in any language from Islamic Jihad, PFLP-GC, PFLP, etc. We have already posted the Hamas statement, which a picture of the martyred Shiek embracing a little Palestinian Child, and showing his soft love for the Dignity of Palestine's inhabitants.

Statements to support the Sheik are still rolling in, as he was a beloved Spiritual Leader, and Militant Anti-Imperialist/Anti-zionist Freedom Fighter deeply respected by all walks of life!!!

Death to the Zionist Entity!!!

Just to clarify some political issues from my prespective as a press correspondent to the Tehran Times.

From what I know, Iran wants to present itself to the world as the "axis of peace". This position makes a clear departure from the politics of the Iraq Solidarity Committee in that Iran wants to incarcerate Saddam Hussein, in Iraq, and there by assert Muslim-Arab sovereignty over Muslim-Arab criminals.  http://majdur.htmlplanet.com/al-Masakin/Volume%202/Iran.axis.of.peace.pdf

This also tends to disrupt the Sunni monoploy on the concept of "Arab-Muslim Sovereignty". Tehran has also indicated that it wishes to try and incarcerate Osama bin Laden and MKO cult leader Mahmood Rajavi. This would bring an end to a generation senseless murder of Shia Muslims by Sunni's and pave the way for an American exit strategy from Iraq and Afghanistan. One can look at Saddam in many ways, as an Arab nationalist perhaps, but supporting Saddam is also a way of supporting Sunni Islam (and its crimes against Iran);it's sensesless brutal history against not only Shi'ite Muslims but also against Persia as a whole which goes back to the martyrdoms of the Calip Imam Ali, Al-Hussein and rubberstamps the enslavement of Shi'ites by the Ottoman Suleyman I in the 1600 century. From what I understand, Tehran affirms the Palestinian "right to resists" but most emphatically denies that right to Osama bin Laden and affirms Saddam's status as a war criminal and, at the sametime, remains solidly anti-imperialist. Agitation which insinuates that the Ayatollah Sistani, and Shi'te Muslims in general, are "collaborating" with the US occupation is not only wrong, but legitimatizes the massacres of Shi'ite Muslims by Saddam loyalists and Al-Qaeda--which was probably responsible for the recent massacre of Shi'ites in Kerballah.

For all the hoopla about the John Kerry email to the Times, it seems that Kucinich remains more popular over there. Iran has not attacked anyone and is, therefore, looking to where it sees the peace moves coming from as Iran will also award Nelson Mandela "the highest honour bestowed upon an individual by the government of Iran"  http://www.sabcnews.com/south_africa/general/0,2172,76219,00.html

Tehran, March 25 - President Mohammad Khatami said here on Thursday that the Islamic Republic of Iran approves Pyongyang's efforts for establishment of peace and unity between two Koreas.

Receiving credentials of new North Korean Ambassador to Tehran Kim Chong Ryong here on Thursday, President Khatami said the Islamic Republic of Iran and North Korea want to remain independent and free by reliance on their nations.

The Islamic Republic of Iran is for peace on the basis of justice and will stand those trying to impose war and violence on Iranians, said Khatami.

The Islamic Republic of Iran is determined to attain all necessary means for promotion of its technology and science and no one can prevent the move, added the President.

Khatami condemned any form of terror and aggression, especially the state terrorism, and said assassination of Hamas spiritual Leader Sheikh Ahmed Yassin by Israel signs ugly image of the Zionist entity's state terrorism in today's world.

He said that unfortunately the US approves the move.

The North Korean envoy for his part called for promotion of Tehran-Pyongyang cooperation and relations.
