900 Young Women Apply to Work at Oregon's First HOOTERS in Beaverton!

I went to a Hooters in Seattle about 5 years ago. I was hungry (for food) and there it was. Curiousity got the best of me. All else aside, the food and service was excellent for a chain American food meat restaurant. The hooters on the help might get you in the first time, but after the tease wears thin the place holds up to any other mass appeal chain. But I have never returned because I would rather a mom and pop place any day.

Jazz de Opus closed and Exotica, an International Gentleman's Club took its place. Despite creating the most laughable euphemism ever, it is sexist economics that women musicians have lost opportunities as men decide women workers are better defined as sexual servants than creative artists doing their own fully-clothed thing.

In the Old West men ruled and there were almost no jobs for women that weren't whoring. The men who run our cut-throat capitalist society have decided once again to expand jobs for poverty-stricken women who are pretty and fuckable in the male-defined, status quo, Maxim Mag way at the expense of allowing all women, regardless of how much men want to see their tits, define themselves as teachers, musicians, doctors, directors, and anything else that isn't intended to please men with disposable income and the desire to make women suffer indignities through sexual debasement for much-needed money.

Hooters would never have gotten off the ground in the first place. They found a winning marketing formula years ago and ran with it.

People like it because it's pretty good food, friendly staff and not to shabby eye-candy for the guys (which is 90 percent of their customer base).

So what if 900 women applied. Given the state of jobs in the pacific northwest, I'm shocked it wasn't 1900.

If you don't like the place, then don't eat there. I don't see what the big fuss is all about.

Did any men apply for a job at Hooters? If they were denied a job interview, would this be a case of gender discrimination, or has Hooters already been drug thru court on this one? Are big mammaries a bona fide job requirent in this case? Would I qualify for a job at Hooters with my 38 AA bust???

Yes, the selling of subservient female sexuality to men has always been big business among men. Women and childrens bodies are the third most commonly traded 'item' on the black market, those skillful organized crime businessmen.

Only women that men can imagine themselves fucking are allowed to be employed at Hooters. Consider it the oldest form of affirmative action, where sexee women who act deferential to men are given the financial assistance to pay their rent and not sexee women or not deferential women can go fuck themselves all the way to their Walmart jobs.

No. Hooters cynically pretends to be an entertainment business, not a restaurant. (Or, more accurately, an "entertainment eatery." Thus, they qualify for a bona-fide occupational qualification exception. If they wanted to hire only blonde-haired, blue-eyed, big-breasted, <120lbs white women, they could do it. (Just as a strip club can hire only women dancers, or a film studio can cast a specifically for a white man).

The waitresses then are entertainers, not servers. Hooters cannot discriminate when hiring cooks, janitors, administrators, or bartenders. But they can hire all the big-breasted waitresses they like.

And Nikes excuse for employing child labor, "well the kidz asked for the job, how could we turn those cute little kids down?"

I have often been confused by the apparent contradiction found in many of these posts. Most femenists (and I would count myself among them) would agree that women should have autonomy when it comes to their bodies. To me that means they have the right to make their own reproductive decisions, as well as choose a sweater or a halter top. To compare an adult woman's choice to work at Hooter's with child labor or black market slavery is comic if not patently offensive. Women's liberation is about complete freedom of choice, not the narrow definition of career choices that society deems acceptable for women. That applies to both sides: women should not be excluded from participation in the professional world, nor should they be confined to it. If women want to flaunt their sexuality and be admired as a sexual object, why restrain them, or worse, condemn them as part of the problem? The problem is narrow definitions of acceptable roles. The problem is not Hooter's. The real problem is our society's view on sexuality. Once we stop seeing sex as something "naughty", perhaps we can move on to a more interesting debate.

What is "freedom of choice" when the only two jobs where women get paid more than men are prostitution and fashion modeling? You would have women treated as 100% indeevidyool agents of their own destiny as if there were really no such thing as sexism exerting its influence over women's choices.

Newsflash: Sexism is real and it really hurts women's economic, political, academic and social equality.

I would choose for men to treat me as their equal. Too bad what I choose doesn't change the ugly, pervasive truth of sexism. I would choose to earn the same amount as men for doing the same job. Too bad for me that such things are beyond my free willed 'choice'.

Also, no one here has condemed any of the women who tried out for Hooters. Judgements about the slutty nature of Hooters employees comes from men like those who videotaped LA women trying out (just you can't rape a prostitute, you can't violate the privacy of a woman who gets paid to let you stare at her tits.) It wasn't feminists who set up those cameras, who passed judgement on LA women who wanted to work at Hooters.

You say women want to be 'admired as a sexual object', and I say you're an ass for thinking women derive professional and personal fulfillment from men staring at their tits. Let me just start this off by saying wow to all those people out there that talk down on hooters. The people that talk badly about our restaurant needs to actually go in and eat and see what we are really about before they start to judge. A lot of people call in before they come to see if their children are allowed in. Our answer YES!! We are just a bunch of friendly girls that serve food to people. And we know just how to make everyone have fun, including babies, young children, men, women, and even senior citizens. When you come in to a hooters you are treated with respect and all equal. it doesn't matter what you do as long as your friendly and you give us girls the respect we deserve. When you enter a hooters our goal is to make you forget about the stressful day you may have had and to hopefully smile and enjoy the atmosphere. Time should stop while your there so you can just enjoy life at that time. There were actually over 1000 applicants and 90 girls were hired. No man can apply for the serving job because were not servers we are hooter girls. You dont have to have huge breast to work there you just have to have a great positive attitude and a friendly smile. If people would visit the beaverton store they would see that there are plenty of girls with small chests that doesn't matter. People should know the facts before speaking.
