Sean Hannity in Portland (2.28)

FoxNews' Sean Hannity is in town this Saturday (2.28) for a KPAM860/Book tour. If anyone is interested in showing Mr. Hannity some "Fair and Balanced" Portland hospitality, please meet at the corner of Oak and Broadway at 10:30 am. I've got a few signs I'll bring, but feel free to bring what ya got. I'm sure Vic Boc will be there as well. The line to get in should be pretty long it's a general admission event.

Hope to see you there

Hannity & co. _wants_ people to protest 27.Feb.2004 16:05

Jonathan Shadrach jjj@io.com

Conservative radio talk show host and author of "Deliver Us From Evil: Defeating Terrorism, Despotism, and Liberalism", will be giving a talk tomorrow at the Benson Hotel downtown (300 block SW Broadway) at 12:00 PM. The tickets are sold out (well not technically, since they were given away; in fact, they may have even said this to deter "evil liberals" from trying to get inside and disrupt things).

Anyhow, another talk show host, whose name I don't recall, just said on the air that not only do the KPAM staff frequently monitor Indymedia to keep track of what the "protestors" and "activists" are doing, but he even read all the posts in this thread on the air and was ridiculing the fact that some people did not know when or where Hannity was showing up.

Furthermore, both this guy (who is a minion of Hannity's) and Hannity himself were bragging and boasting about how there are going to be protestors there, and trying to incite people to come, explicitly stating on the air that they are glad because it could bring extra publicity both to Hannity and to KPAM AM 860 who broadcasts Hannity's show.

I don't know whether it's worth it to demonstrate there or not, but it seems to me that's exactly what they want. Perhaps a silent protest by not even going would do more to deflate these egomaniacs than showing up, because indeed, it would probably add fuel to their fire and feed their supporters' sense of righteous indignation against "the left". (Since apparently, anyone who "protests" is a jobless, pot-smoking, left-winger.)

Jon

On a side note: I find it interesting that at the same time Hannity comes to the support of Mel Gibson's movie -- and I whole-heartedly agree with him that it was a wonderful film without any anti-Semitism -- he also seems to support war and exhibits what could most accurately be called hatred for his enemies. Apparently, he is of the same line of people that believe in the word of Christ but also believe that it should not apply to the behavior of a nation in its foreign policy. If Jesus' suffering on the cross means anything, and his words mean anything, then let Hannity and his followers also take it to heart what Christ said, "But if you do not forgive, neither will your Father in heaven forgive your trespasses." (Mark 11:26)

For if Jesus were alive today, I reckon he would be called a "spineless left-wing protestor" as well. Or perhaps I misread the part where he says "My kingdom is not of this world. If my kingdom were of this world, My servants would fight, so that I should not be delivered to the Jews [referring to the corrupt ones who sought to kill him]; but now My kingdom is not from here."

I'll probably show up. 27.Feb.2004 17:38

Boc is trying to use reverse psychology, a "don't throw me into the brier patch" technique so lame I hope people don't fall for it.

Victor Boc used to be a fairly decent fellow on the radio. Now, though, he has been so neutered by the bosses at that station that he fears saying anything negative about Bush--I guess the powers will do to him what ClearChannel did to Howard Stern. Boc still rants and raves about the Clinton-Lewinsky lie, but he has no problem with the Bush lies about WMD, 9/11, Plame, tax cuts, and on and on and on.

Pathetic really.

Pathtic, Indeed 27.Feb.2004 21:08

Only it's not Boc...

Protest Sean Hannity? He's here on a privately funded book tour. What do you have to protest? His opinions that he's entitled to have? Or maybe you want to protest his "message"? Clearly there are plenty of people that agree with him if he's got the #2 most listened to radio show in the country and a #1 selling book.

Here's the problem. You have nothing to protest except your own ignorance. I dare you all to show up and protest. Even more, I dare you to engage in an intelligent debate with Sean (I hear he's more than willing to chat with anyone who disagrees with him). If you do, I suspect he'll embarass you with your ignorance and that you'll resort to yelling something stupid, like "Fascist". Do you even know what that means?

Pathetic is the word, indeed...

He's just a stupid talk show host. Ignore him and he'll go away.

ARE YOU A NEWS MAN OR A CAMPAIGN SPOKES MAN FOR GEORGE BUSH? 12.Oct.2004 09:29

YOU ARE A BIASED CAMPAIGN MAN .

i have seen your rantings on the air about this presidential campaign, i dere say your approach is becoming redicules and foolishly partician, i honesty do not beleive that you need to continue being on the public assess, propagating your view point for everyone to hear, i know you may claim that you have a view point but this has gone beyond having view point, for people like myself who are considering voting in this election, you are turning some people like myself off. why don't you keep it on the accepable level.
thank you.
