Stop Genocide in Chechnya!!

February 23rd was the 60th anniversary of the deportations of the Chechen and Ingush people. On this day, people all over the world held protests to urge the Russian Federation to choose peace over genocide and to accept the Akhmadov Peace Plan,
In Seattle, yesterday, members of the Chechnya Solidarity Committee held a protest in front of the Russian consulate on 6th and Virginia. The protest was in unity with protests and actions all over the world to call for an end to the atrocities being committed in Chechnya by the Russian military, and to urge Russia to agree to the Akhmadov Peace Plan. The Akhmadov Peace Plan calls for the removal of the Russian military and the placement of UN Peacekeepers in Chechnya.

Russian Anarchists held a protest in Moscow on the same day as part of the world wide protest.

Since 1994, the Russian Federation has invaded independent Chechnya twice. Well over 200,000 Chechens have been killed. Tens of thousands (or more) of Chechen women have been raped by members of the Russian military. Soldiers will raid villages where they will rob, rape and kill civilians at random. These raids are a daily occurence in Chechnya.
