CHARLOTTESVILLE, VIRGINA - The Earth Liberation Front has taken credit for its second known action of 2004 with an attack on equipment at a building site in Charlottesville, Virginia. The site, a 30-acre clearcut slated for the development of 300 duplex-apartment units, a bank, a Target store and some restaurants, was targeted as part of the ELF's ongoing actions against large-scale developments going up at the expense of what little green space is left in North America. |
According to an anonymous email received by the ELF Press Office, on Saturday, February 7th members of the ELF attended the site, set one bulldozer on fire, and caused minor damage (broken windows and cut wires) to several other pieces of construction equipment. A banner reading "YOUR CONTRUCTION = LONG TERM DESTRUCTION - ELF" was left at the scene.
Damage estimates for this action are not known at this time.
