Here is an entire page wasted on a story about an activist who opened a restaurant, and wrote a book, which apparently some people disagree with. Redden claims in a bold photo caption that "critics both liberal and conservative call him (Rosebraugh) two-faced." However, reading through the article you will only find the single conservative critic doing so. Redden relies entirely on an anonymous posting from Indymedia, which is itself most likely from a right wing critic, to back-up his claim. In fact, there isn't a single interview with any activist to provide another viewpoint. Beyond that, the article does not give much interesting information about the restaurant. It does not review the book. It does not attempt any discussion of some of the issues that might be of value to inform readers about and at least in some part, redeem itself. No, this entire page is a complete waste of people's time. Particularly in light of other serious issues that could use more public attention. For contrast I will mention just one. Hanford. Here, just miles away, is a vast repository of radioactive and chemical toxic waste. There are 172 building sized buried tanks, some 70 of which have already leaked millions of gallons of high level radioactive waste. Waste which is leaking into aquifers that eventually feed into the Columbia river. Now that is something to be terrified of.
Redden is more than just an opportunist however. Wittingly, or unwittingly he is acting as the propaganda mouthpiece for the rising fascist police state. 12 times the term 'terrorism' is written in the article. 4 of those 'eco-terrorism'. Does he bother to mention that nobody has ever been killed by these so called eco-terrorist acts? No. Does he mention that under eco-terrorism laws, an activist crossing a forest closure line with a camera to document illegal cutting can be charged? No. Does he provide any voice for the many people and organizations who would challenge the terms and context of the government propaganda and scare tactics? No.
It took violence to break free of British rule. It took violence to free slaves. Today, the Boston Tea Party would be called a domestic terrorist act. Does he give any context or historical basis to reveal the subtleties of the issues? No. In exchange for a buck, he does his part to brainwash people into accepting the growing fascism of the government and its agencies, and to justify its increasing repression of anyone who speaks up in dissent.
Jim Redden is a corporate stooge and an apologist for the growing fascist government - Oh, and btw, Fuck the corporate media!
