Bark Hike Sunday

Bark Hike this Sunday January 11th. Leaves 9:15 am from Daily Grind. Get out of the city snow and into the forest snow...
Sunday, January 11th at 9:15 am Winter Wonderland No-Whiskey Timber Sale Hike CARPOOLS WILL LEAVE THE DAILY GRIND (SE Hawthorne & 40th) PROMPTLY AT 9:30 AM. Please arrive by 9:15 so we can check you in, arrange rides and give a brief overview of the day's plans. If you can drive, great, if not, we'll make sure you have a ride. Join Bark on a hike to the No Whiskey Timber Sale and visit some of Mt. Hood's most majestic native forest. This large timber sale (combined units over 1000 acres), located in the North Fork Clackamas Watershed, would log in the Roaring River Roadless Area, which is proposed for wilderness designation. A fire went through this area around the 1920s, leaving a diversity of flora and fauna in its wake. It is known for an incredible diversity of species, including the rare Malone jumping slug and the elusive red tree vole. The vicinity is also unfortunately subject to ORV abuse, which will only be exacerbated by more logging roads. Come find out what you can do to protect this area. This sale is still in early stages of planning, which means that you can get involved now and make an impact on the outcome! Be prepared for snowy weather. Bring waterproof gear (rain pants, jacket, boots), hat, gloves, scarf, lunch, and water. ?
