When I was 13 or 14 I remember hearing lots of Dylan and Baez on WLS. That was a long time ago (Art Roberts, Dick Biondi, East of Midnight...) but the point is, I wonder if they really realized the messages that were being presented by some of the music, if they knew the potent message behind that silly song, "Where Have all the Flowers Gone", that was on the air all the time. Once I saw the Lennon Sisters perform the Ring around the Rosie Rag on Lawrence Welk and just stood in amazement thinking of those pink dresses doing the ring around the rosie in the middle of the night....
Understand that this was corporate media of the time -- it was just naive.
They are probably smarter than that now and Willie is right, you'll probably never hear this on your TV or radio. I think it might be time for us to tune up our guitars and sing out.
