This is NOT a pipe dream. These are strange times, with many unknowns, many mysterious factors, many untested strategies. We will never know freedom until we take steps towards freedom.
A little historical comparison: In the middle-to-late 1700s, American colonists realized they were getting screwed by their big brother/parent empire (Great Britain). Today, the situation has been translated to a new generation: the experimental republic of Jefferson (libertarian) and Hamilton (federalist) has succeeded become a global empire.
I choose the historical American analogy to bring my point "closer to home", although European history both recent (Germany, Italy in 1930s) and ancient (Roman Empire) provide valuable background for the events of this time and place.
This is only the beginning. If we are to prevail we must take measures immediately to build our numbers, our skills, our leverage.
At this point I feel it necessary to declare my allegiances - my preferred system of government would be a voluntary participatory democracy. Not too far off from Jefferson's vision... hindsight allows us to build upon the excellent foundation of the Constitution and Bill of Rights, the Declaration of Human Rights, etc.
Here are two fundamental, concrete goals to ponder, neither of which requires the breakdown of society, industry or economy:
- The absolute separation of corporation and state.
- The absolute freedom of the individual, as long as no harm is caused to others.
These are only my thoughts. It is so crucial to know what we all think needs to happen. We MUST focus our power and energy towards common goals; perhaps a manifesto is in order (much better would be a constitution, or another declaration of purpose and intention which relates to the current structure). It's up to you all to move this along.
