Books To Prisoners mailing nights, mondays and tuesdays 5-8 pm

The support has been really great for Books to Prisoners in terms of donations lately. The last 2 benefit shows were a huge success, with tons of really great books and dictionaries and thesauruses and books with radical and educational content being donated that might help radicalize people in prison. All the support and the effort the bands made to get these benefits together and the people who let their space be made use of for the shows this weekend is much appreciated!
Books to Prisoners is an all volunteer project working to provide educational material and literature to those who are incarcerated in this country. Please come help! Any level of commitment welcome.

Mailing nights are 5-8 pm Monday and Tuesday nights. These happen at 60 N. Sacramento St, the entrance is on the right side of the house.

If folks want to get more involved, but can't make mailing nights, there are a lot of things that need to be done and if even one of these is something you can help with only one time, your help would be much appreciated.

we need volunteers to answer mail & put together packages, to check book donation boxes, and to organize fundraisers. Around 50 packages gets mailed off with every hundred bucks we get, so a little goes a long way...

We need BOOKS! (radical/political content, literature that you think is worth reading, DICTIONARIES, thesauruses, legal books, spiritual, cultural history, alternative medicine, et cetera), packaging supplies, especially clear packaging tape and brown paper, office supplies like pens and paper to write letters on, zines, postage stamps, $, and BENEFIT SHOWS!! Also copying the mailing labels and literature for mailing and for tabling is always a need. If folks want to table, that would be great too.

If you want to donate books or bucks or stamps but can't make the mailing nights, there are drop-boxes now at 2 locations: (Feel empowered to check these and bring books left there to the office on the mailing nights as well)

* Reflections Mirror Image Bookstore at the corner of NE Garfield and Killingsworth
* Back to Back Cafe at 616 E. Burnside. There is also a donations box at Back to Back.
(*Laughing Horse at SE 37th & Division will have a donations box by mid-December.)

The office is located between MLK & Williams, (take #6, #4, #33, or #40, get off on Sacramento, between Broadway & Russell)
