PPRC Friday Rally and March Condemns Bush Administration's Neo-Con Policies
and Lies About Iraq Occupation, Calls for US Troops to Come Home.

The Portland Peaceful Response Coalition 5:00 p.m. Friday rally and march
for peace at Pioneer Courthouse Square returns to the US occupation of Iraq,
condemning the Bush Administration's policies and calling for US troops to
be brought home. "This criminal invasion of Iraq has turned into a classic
colonial war," said Mikel Clayhold, a volunteer with the PPRC. "US soldiers
are now paying the price for the civilian casualties from US bombing, for
Paul Bremer's failure to restore basic services and security for the Iraqi
people, and for the brazen moves to turn over Iraq's national wealth to Bush
's crony capitalist friends." Clayhold noted the dramatic drop in Bush's
approval ratings as more Americans begin to recognize the Bush
Administration's willingness to trade US soldiers' lives for the corporate
war profiteering of Haliburton and Bechtel. "This war, and the entire
so-called 'war on terror', has been a grand strategy to further enrich the
business interests that put Bush into the White House," said Clayhold, "and
as more soldiers die for these corrupt and failed policies, the citizens of
this nation are waking up, and speaking out."

"The recent attack on the Italian forces in Iraq, today's decision by Japan
to not send troops, and the attacks on the Red Cross and UN facilities are
all tragic symptoms of a policy that was doomed from the beginning," said
William Seaman, another PPRC volunteer. "And when they write the history of
this shameful period, among the top culprits will be the corporate news
media which went along with the lies and false patriotism with an enthusiasm
that would have impressed even Joseph Goebbels." Seaman said that Paul
Bremer's return to Washington for emergency discussions highlights the panic
now moving through the Bush Administration. "They're now considering
proposals almost identical to the plans outlined by Germany and France,
plans that Bush's neo-con war advisors rejected only months ago," said
Seaman. "The only question that US citizens now face is how active they
should be in pressuring Washington today, right now, to bring the US troops
home." Seaman said that an immediate transition to an international,
UN-administered de-colonization process was the only hope for reducing
casualties among soldiers now stationed in Iraq.

I wonder when PPRC will actually start quoting people from outside the organization in their press releases. Let alone try and make actual social change within society, instead of patting themselves on the back every friday and moving on.

but will the PPRC burn the flag on Friday 13.Nov.2003 22:50

.

in honor of the new law being proposed that would ban this form of free speech?

If they would I would consider coming to a rally.
