IWW forum: Natural foods workers, UNITE!

An invitation to workers empolyed in the natural foods industry--production, distribution, retail, and beyond--to attend a forum discussion about our working conditions.
Date/Time: Monday, November 17th 2003, 6:00-8:00 p.m.

Location: People's Co-op Community Room, 3029 SE 21st Ave., Portland, OR. Tri-Met bus lines #4 Division and #9 Powell.

Event contact:  iu660@riseup.net, (503) 231-5488; leave a message for IOC 660 members.

Description:
"An open forum and discussion concerning the working conditions of natural foods workers in the Portland area. We will be talking about our pay, benefits, workplace safety, respect on the job, and any other issues that workers bring to the table.
The event will be hosted by retail workers from the Industrial Workers of the World (IWW), a volunteer-run democratic union. The IWW has a history of natural foods organizing efforts in Portland, and we'd like to pull workers together to develop industry standards that the owners of our companies would be forced to recognize.
So, all you workers from Wild Oats, Whole Foods, New Seasons, Trader Joe's, and any other grocery store or distribution company: COME TO THE FORUM AND MAKE YOUR VOICE HEARD! Let's find out what the common problems between our workplaces are, and what we can do to create more democratic and equitable jobs for everyone!"
