Giant fireball hits Hillsboro (?)

If anyone hears about a giant flaming something decending towards Hillsboro, you heard it first on Indymedia.
I was just out walking the dog, and I looked up into the sky over Hillsboro and saw a large fiery something falling out of the sky. At first I thought, holy cow, that is the biggest comet I've ever seen, but then I realized that comets would be traveling much faster. It looked like the size of perhaps an airplane, and fell a few degrees in about 5 seconds. Since the air show is coming up, perhaps this flaming flying thing was supposed to be in such a condition, but that seems strange to me.

Hope no one is hurt, regardless of what it was.

I forgot to add, I saw this at about 8:00 PM. I should also add that I did not actually see it "hit" Hillsboro, because the last 10 degrees of its decent (100-1000 ft... I'm not sure how far away it was, so its hard to say) was obscured by a row of houses.

Metal Pancreas

some very strange looking smoke "signal"-like stuff floating over Forest Park today. This is looking from Albina and Alberta in NE. Around 2 this afternoon. Don't know if it's related, but it was the kind of thing that made me cock my head and think suspicious thoughts.

The Blessed

I was one of the Chosen Ones to be driving by Hillsboro as our Savior descended from His Throne and took us to the Rapture.

Sorry you missed it. More fun than smoking crack.

It was part of the airshow. It was a parachuter with fireworks attatched to his ankles.

I suspect you meant "meteorite". Comets viewed from earth with the naked eye don't appear to move. They're like watching the moon or planets; motion is only perceptible over several minutes time.

I saw what sounds like to be the same thing in PA about ten years ago. Couldn't figure out what it was.
