Come to the 8th Annual ResistDance! The Cascadia Forest Alliance hosts
its annual summer forest defense benefit on Sunday, September 7 from 1 - 8
pm at sunny Laurelhurst Park at SE 28th and Oak in Portland.

Join the community in a celebration of another year of proactive resistance
to forest destruction and efforts to build a more just and sustainable
future. The free event will last from 1 to 8 pm and will feature music by a
variety of local bands including the Foghorn Leghorn Stringband, Laughing
Moon Marimba, Desert Rat, Pennsyltucky Takeover, Brian QTN and more. Plus
spoken word poetry, square dancing, the T-Horse, kids activities, tables
from numerous progressive groups, climb trainings, and forest protection
workshops. This event is an excellent way to support and get involved in
local forest activism.

Bring your friends and family for a day in the park to benefit forest
protection. Suggested donation is $5 - $10 but the event is open to all. All
proceeds generated will benefit the efforts of the Cascadia Forest Alliance
to protect threatened stands of native forest on our public lands and
Cascadia Summer, a regionwide effort to counter the Bush agenda to hand our
forests over to the timber industry.

Contact 503-241-4879 for details or see www.cascadiaforestalliance.org for
an updated schedule of the days events.

You can also mail donations directly to CFA at PO Box 4946, Portland OR

Why is this fine event timed on the same date as PeaceQuake?

coincidence 30.Aug.2003 16:19

C.L.

They were apparently planned simultaneously and by the time some of the organizers of each event realized that there was some overlap, it was too late to put on the breaks for either event. The Peacequake ends a few hours earlier than the ResistDance, so people could attend parts of both.
