This Could Be a Good Time

Thoughts and Comments on Dennis Kucinich for President
I've been thinking negative thoughts lately - that the people don't want Peace, they want to win. Well, perhaps they want Peace, but they want to win more because they are afraid. The faith of many people has been shattered by the tearing apart of humanity and the planet. It has been replaced with fear. Allow me to bring back to your memory a message from the Elders of the Hopi people, the People of Peace. "You have been telling people that this is the Eleventh Hour, now you must go back and tell them that this is the Hour. And there are things to be considered: Where are you living? What are you doing? What are your relationships? Are you in right relation? Where is your water? Know your garden. It is time to speak your Truth. Create your community. Be good to each other. And do not look outside yourself for the leader. This could be a good time! There is a river flowing now very fast. It is so great and so swift that there are those who will be afraid. They will try to hold onto the shore. They will feel they are being torn apart, and they will suffer greatly. Know the river has its destination. The Elders say we must let go of the shore, push off into the middle of the river, keep our eyes open and our heads above water. See who is in there with you and celebrate. At this time in history, we are to take nothing personally, least of all ourselves. For the moment that we do, our spiritual growth and journey comes to a halt. The time of the lone wolf is over. Gather yourselves. Banish the word 'struggle' from your attitude and your vocabulary. All that we do now must be done in a sacred manner and in celebration. We are the ones we have been waiting for." I can see who is in the middle of the river with me. Some of the most interesting, intelligent, creative, and courageous people on the planet are speaking out, singing out, writing, and working for peace. Pete Seeger, Baba Ram Das, Jose Arguelles, Grace Paley, Willie Nelson, Nelson Mandela - We are not alone here. We do not have to buy what the Corporate Revolution is selling - their ideas, their version of history, their wars, their weapons, AND THEIR NOTION OF INEVITABILITY! One of these notions is that we cannot vote for who we truly want because Dennis Kucinich is not electable. He's short, he's single, he's a vegan, he has no eyebrows, and, most sadly of all, "because the Peace Platform won't cut it". Well, what have we been working for? I say to those who hold to this line of thought "Even if you don't like the messenger, do not ignore the message". Let us remember the issues Dennis is raising. We need Dennis to articulate our dreams and aspirations and the dreams and aspirations of millions of working people, peoples of all colors, women, children, teens. People who wish to live simply on the earth and with earth's creatures. People who would like to EVOLVE. We need a person who will activate Congressional hearings to investigate war profiteering and secretive "reconstruction" contracts given to corporations close to the Bush administration. And Dennis is striving to do this. We need a person to reign in the war profiteering by military contractors through an "Excess Profits Tax". And Dennis is striving to do this. We need a person to stop the handing over of Iraq's industries, services, and resources to multi-national corporations. And Dennis is striving to do this. We need a person to stop the manipulation of intelligence to justify war. And Dennis is striving to do this. We need to bring our loved ones in the military home NOW and get them out of harm's way. And Dennis is striving to do this. Dennis is the crest on a shield against the horrendous attack happening now against our humanity and our planet. We are the metal of that shield. All of us. When Bush says "You are either with us or with the terrorists" we can respond that we do not need to choose between a malevolent Mickey Mouse and the Mad Mullahs. We be many, they be few. They need us more than we need them. Deprive this Corporate Revolution of its oxygen - shame it; mock it, with are, music, literature, our joy, our brilliance, our sheer stubborness and our own stories. Work to make war itself a thing of the past - activate the dream of Kucinich's Department of Peace, introduced into the house April 8, 2003 and referred to the Committee on Government Reform. We have the Courage. We have the Wisdom. We have the Compassion. And we are loved. So let's shore up our spines, loosen our hips and boogie down for Freedom. Elect Dennis Kucinich President 2004. He will take on and beat this misguided cartel now in power and turn this country and its people in the direction of peace and evolution.
