don't you think its equally important that there be a feature stating the date and time of the protest for those passing by on the website? apparently, we will all be meeting at Mark O. Hatfield at 11am-ish. maybe we should get that up there at the top and note "subject to change" since some people may not be back on the site at a later time to check for updates as far as when to meet......

A planning meeting is great, but the EVENT is the thing that needs announcment!

Put it out there that the rally is 11am Friday at the Hatfield building.

The planners can work out the details tonight, but the rest of us have to plan for tomorrow.

yes, please post the outcome of tonight's planning meeting once it is figured out. not all of us can make it to the meeting tonight, but an early "lunch" tomorrow sounds like a possibility....

Please note that this is on very short notice and our level of support will be limited to what volunteer commitment we can get ASAP. We are not expecting major trouble with the authorities but one never knows what antisocial behavior they may indulge in. If you witness an arrest (i.e. someone actually taken away in cuffs etc.) please try to get some of the pertinent details such as: Time, Location (w/crossstreets), Description (of officers involved) with names and badge numbers if possible, especially if there is brutality or other misconduct involved, Description of arrestee(s) including NAMES OF ARRESTEES. Bearing in mind that some political arrestees may not want to reveal thier ID to the cops, but if it is possible please get thier full name so we can keep track of them while they are in custody. We will do our best to arrange rides from jail etc, but we could use some help with that, so if your buddies are in the clink, give us a call and volunteer.

If you are arrested, or witness an arrest, get to a phone, borrow a cell phone, or call collect (503) 231-5488 and we will do what we can. If the line is busy, call back.

Additionally, you may call the Belmont Law Center at (503) 234-2694. Thier phone number is listed near the phones in the (Multnomah Co.) jail under thier names Stewart Sugarman and Paul Loney. Since they are criminal defense attorneys IT IS NOT A COLLECT CALL. You may have to leave a message.

I was the one that originally posted the thread but I agree completly, we also need a post on the protest in general.
Also my post was quickly written (my name is not just funny) and it could be easily be re-written to include all that we know at this point rather than having twenty different attachments to the main article.

So what we know so far:
1 Ashcroft is coming! This is confirmed.
2 There are actions planned and based on how the information was released at the last minute than we should exspect much police presence and infiltration of this site and the meeting tonight. (none the less get your ass there)
3 There is a planning meeting tonight at 7PM at the North Park blocks. (Look for the big metal elephant if you are easily confused)
4 The jail support number is 2315488
5 At this point it lookes like the protest will either start at 10:30 at South Park blocks or at 11AM at the court house.
6 We no for sure that he will be there at 11:30 to deliver a press release.

Seriously, not being sarcastic. It's incredible how quickly you mobilize. Truly remarkable. Protest planning meetings, jail solidarity. It's awe inspiring. If you get tired of activism, I'm sure there's a career waiting for you in public relations.
