PUD supporters: |
1. Short notice of an important event!
Tonight at 7pm the Multnomah County Democratic Central Committee will meet to vote on whether to support the Multnomah County PUD measure.
This is a general membership meeting and is open to the public. We urge you to attend - whether or not you are a Democrat. Come hear and join in the debate. Support of the MC Democrats will be a major step forward in the effort to pass the PUD measure in November.
Meeting is at 7pm in the Hollywood Senior Center, 1820 NE 40th, Portland.
2. Memorial service for a fallen colleague.
The PUD effort suffered the loss of a beloved colleague and valued member of OPPC, when Richard Lochner died recently.
All of us in OPPC miss Richard very much. His hard work and dedication to the cause of public power were invaluable. He leaves a significant gap in the effort, which will be hard to fill.
Richard was an impressive and dedicated individual. One didn't have to know him very long to discover his commitment and sincerity. They were obvious as soon as one had dealings with him.
Because of the high regard in which Richard was held by his peers in the labor community - where he served many years as an incredibly hardworking member and officer of the American Postal Workers Union - he was able to secure the endorsement of the PUD effort by a number of union organizations, including Jobs With Justice, National Association of Letter Carriers and the American Postal Workers Union.
Many of us in OPPC will be attending the July 11th memorial for Richard at Wy'east Unitarian Universalist Congregation. We hope to see some of you there as well.
Wy'east is located at 3915 SE Steele. The service begins at 1pm.
