There will be a Black Cross Health Collective training in Eugene, Oregon this Sunday, June 15th.
This will be an 8 hour training from 9 AM to 6 PM. There will be an hour for lunch as well as breaks.
The training will take place at Growers' Market, 454 Willamette Street in Eugene. All are welcome, especially those planning to go to the WTO Agricultural Ministrial in Sacramento.
The training will be an introduction to 1st Aid for protests, as well as aftercare. Those who know some 1st Aid will learn skills specific to demonstrations and protests, such as treatment of chemical weapons (pepper spray and tear gas). Those who have no first aid training will learn basic skills, such as scene assessment and ABCs. Everyone will be expected to get hands-on experience, as well as have some fun.
The Black Cross 8-hour training outline is posted on our website, for those who wish to do more research. The goal of this training is to prepare people to act as affinity group medics and 1st Aid providers during demonstrations and protests.
Please dress as though you were going to a demonstration - you're going to have to move around during the training and may get wet. Bring the gear you might bring to a long protest. Bring material for lunch and snacks, as well as a closed squeeze-top water bottle. Bring an open mind and some friends. And lots of questions, if you wish.
A donation will be asked to cover supplies, as well as to help fund medics in Sacramento.
