REBEL EROTICA!!!

Rebel Erotica awaits......a spoken word benefit, 7-11 pm on Tuesday, May 27th, at SE 22nd and Division. All proceeds to benefit the Red and Black Cafe and Cascadia Summer. But what is rebel erotica??? read more to explore.....

Rebel Erotica is....an invitation. i've talked about what goes on in bed, falling out of bed, against trees, underwater, with men, with wymyn, with genderqueer folk. and i've talked about what it would take to end all tyranny and begin a world of always power-with. i've spoken of these things and i've heard others speak of them. i've never talked about them in the same breath, and i've never heard form others stories, real or imagined, about how resistance and eros relate.
Rebel Erotica awaits......a spoken word benefit, 7-11 pm on Tuesday, May 27th, at SE 22nd and Division. All proceeds to benefit the Red and Black Cafe and Cascadia Summer. But what is rebel erotica??? read more to explore..... the personal is the political, or at least that's what i hear for those who don't settle for forced domination or coerced submission..... (there are those who do both for pleasure - people whose most dangerous desires are played out in con-sensuality.) the personal is the political, and everything's connected. i want to know what entwines my desires. i want to know how sex can be as slippery, as delicious, as soul-satisfying or as body-quenching as i want it to be for everyone.......and be connected to the larger struggles. so rebel erotica is this: a space for talking about how we can come deeply back to our bodies and back to our birthright of autnomous and mutual power at the same time. anticipated performers include: fern capella, turriya, iyanna, william york, serenity, and more. we are still reserving rebelerotic performance spaces, so if you'd like to perform in that spirit, please contact us at rebelerotica@hotmail.com i invite you all to come hear the visions, share your visions, laugh, dream, and steam up all the windows. work for the open mike is encouraged to be, but doesn't need to be, rebelerotic. admission is $4-10 sliding scale unless you've prearranged to perform. and the time and place? 7-11 pm, Tuesday, May 27th, at SE 22nd and Division. about the organizations to benefit: The Red and Black Cafe http://www.redandblackcafe.org/ A meeting space, performance venue, cafe, and coffee shop, collectively owned and run. Organicness, radicalness, big soft couches, and social hub. Cascadia Summer http://www.cascadiasummer.org The Cascadia Summer campaign is made-up of a diverse group of local conservationists fighting to protect forests, streams, and wildlife. We recognize and value strength in diversity of tactics. During Cascadia Summer, activists will be engaging in a wide-range of tactics from civil disobedience, tree-sits, public outreach in urban and rural areas, lawsuits, political pressure, and popular education. Trainings in direct action, non-violence, blockading, legal issues, and much much more will be provided.

Biggots Suck! 26.May.2003 12:02

A

Apparently men kissing and women embracing is considered too graphic for Portland streets! Rebel Erotica posters are being torn down as fast as they are put up(even the wheatpasted ones). These flyers were made with the intention of being sexual but NOT graphic! All private parts are concealed. I've seen much more questionable posters portraying straight sexuality and male domination stay up for months!!! So please if you think this discrimination sucks, help me spread the word about Rebel Erotica. They may be able to tear down our flyers but they cannot silence our voices!

until you read it

but whether or not you attend this cool-ass event, read a book called A Star Called Henry.

... i'm sure other books write about love and rebellion as integral components of one another, but this is the one i've read ... and it does it well.
