Dean's running too 10.May.2003 21:33

I must admit, as a Dean supporter, I was quite moved by this video. Every other time I've seen Kucinich he's seemed really shrill and inarticulate. I think everyone can agree that this guy is probably the Greenist most pure-hearted peacenik in the field. Howerer, as someone who was fooled once into thinking that America was ready to hear Ralph Nader's message I don't think Kucinich is going to get anywhere near the white house in today's climate. Dean has a real simple demeanor and message which I foresee resonating with a big chunk of the electorate. The strain I've seen in the elections I've seen in the past 10 years or so have shown that you need to tap into people's anger and frustration to win. Bush did it by riding that Limbaughvian wave of hate toward Clinton. Clinton did it by riding that grungey anger over Bush I's neglect of the economy. There are a lot of people who are pissed at Bush right now for wasting all our money on wars against third world countries while the states go bankrupt. Kucinich doesn't make me angry. He doesn't rile me up with the kind of motivating force necessary to achieve a critical mass in the electorate. Kucinich makes me thoughtful and a little depressed. Give him a talk show, make him a Senator, but I don't think he's going to be President. Dean holds many of the same basic positions on the issues and he's got the moxie to take Bush out. I really think we need to have a discussion about Dean vs. Kucinich to make sure we avoid splitting our vote and being ineffectually fractured. It would be really pointless if Kucinich ends up spoiling Dean's chances and someone like Kerry or Lieberman got the nom. Good video though, real intimate.

"Dean has a real simple demeanor and message which I foresee resonating with a big chunk of the electorate"

Clinton did too! = NAFTA, WTO, IMF, World Bank

And so did Reagan, God Bless him!

And Bushmoron is our top man for "a real simple demeanor and message "!

Jack Straw

Honestly, Bov. How many years will people still be fooled by Democrats running as "reformers" and then doing capital's bidding once (if) they get into office? Judging by Indymedia, Lincoln has been proven right, it is possible to fool some people all the time.
