Some would go so far as to say that the destruction of the sacred by the secular is the central problem of modern life. That is, intellect quantifies life, but intuition reveals its quality, and without it, we are lost. Science describes trees in board feet, but faith can feel their shimmering souls. In short, measurement speaks nothing to meaning. Where science is silent, spirituality makes a joyful noise.
