According to NPR's Morning Edition this morning, the Kurdish militias who "liberated" northern Iraq have emptied entire villages of their Arab populations by force and/or threat of force.
According to NPR's Morning Edition this morning, the Kurdish militias who "liberated" northern Iraq have emptied entire villages of their Arab populations by force and/or threat of force. We had heard that Saddam had studied the tactics of Milosovich in Serbia. Apparently, he wasn't the only one.

These were presumably Kurdish villages within the lifetime of most of those doing the repossessing because there were very few Arabs up that way before Saddam's program to "Arabize" this oil producing region.

PLEASE --- I am NOT justifying the summary expulsion of people who have lived in a place 30 years. But "ethnic cleansing" in cases of ehtnic conflicts is NOT always a simple matter and we should be slow to choose up sides.
