"chemical decontamination"

Heh heh... you make it sound so dramatic. The police stopped using CS and CN tear gas on rioters back in the early 70's. The stuff you idiots are being sprayed and gassed with is nothing more than crushed red pepper extract otherwise known as Capsaicin. Get your facts straight...

Happy to get our facts "straight" 10.Apr.2003 14:38

Not to spend too much time with someone who knows nothing but writes a lot, "woodsman", but tear gas has been used against us in a number of demonstrations and protests in the U.S. and Canada in the last three years.

To mention just three, Seattle 1999 and Quebec City 2000, as well as the inaugural demonstrations for Bush in D.C., 2001. I am told that even Republicans shed tears there. The photos provide the proof, if you won't accept my word.

Please be assured, gentle readers, that C.H.E. and Black Cross teaches what we know and have experienced, not what some unknown entity would like us to teach. For anonymous critics I am happy to recommend some experienced colonic therapists.

Craig,

What you are refering to is canisters of Capsaicin mixed with a flammable propellant that when ignited release the irritant in large plumes of smoke. How do you expect me to argue with you when I have to educate you first?

'military grade' teargas used in seattle 10.Apr.2003 15:25

padre

well theres this little thing where a friend of mine has a seizure every month on her moon.
because the cops decided in 1999 that, since they ran out of 'civilian' grade teargas, to move up the stuff for enemy combatants.

wait lets go over that again.
a friend of mine has a -seizure-
every month. and most likely will until she reaches menopause.

Tear Gas WAS Used in Seattle 10.Apr.2003 15:47

Sorry to use a cnn link but just do a search on tear gas seattle on google or other net searcher and find your stories - tons out there.

Here's the cnn link:  http://www.cnn.com/1999/US/12/03/wto.week/

The head line to this article is:

Police, protesters look back on week of tear gas and trade meetings.

Yep, tear gas WAS used in Seattle 10.Apr.2003 19:11

Mike mikeyboyinoregon@yahoo.com

No doubt, check this link out:

 http://www.labournet.net/docks2/9911/wto15.htm

an AP article very clearly stating that yes, tear gas was used. If you have any doubts about the kinds of injuries that can arise from "less than lethal" force used by the police, look only at the injuries sustained when the police attacked the protestors in Oakland last week.

The police are truly out of control; last week I was just walking down the street and one of them accosted me saying "Are you eye-fucking me?" (I have no idea what that means). Also saw them drag an old lady off the MAX at 42nd Avenue. These are terrifying times and I haven't been able to protest because I have been beaten by the pigs before and I'm still suffering from PTSD. I'm hoping to be strong enough to be out over the next couple of days.

Peace,

Nonsense again... 10.Apr.2003 21:36

Woodsman

"Tear Gas" is just another generic term like "Clorox" or "Xerox" for the flammable form of Capsaicin that burns and forms a gaseous cloud. Again, CS and CN riot control agents haven't been used in America since the 70's...

Rational people are welcome at the workshop 11.Apr.2003 01:36

Gentle readers, this is more for you than for "woodsman", who has difficulty with reality.

First, Black Cross Health Collective has never had any members named "Craig".

Second, our website has a good deal of information about CS/CN gas, as well as pepper spray (Capsicum). It is based on our own experience, as well as the experience of many activists, and the numerous articles we read and experts that we talked with in the course of doing our research and writing. You are welcome to send questions or criticisms to us directly via our website. We are always pleased to get suggestions, criticisms or comments from rational entities.

Third, if anyone other than "woodsman" has any doubt about the use of CS gas (commonly called "tear gas") at the demonstrations in North America over the last three years, I refer you to the pages of the Christian Science Monitor, the LA Times, Physicians for Social Responsibility or the Canadian Parliament. All have written articles or published documents about the use of CS gas against civilians, such as the use of over 4000 canisters in Quebec City in 2000. If there is further doubt, please go to the website www.federallaboratories.com where you will find ordering information for OC,CS,CN and smoke canisters for police and military use.

By the way, the Geneva Convention forbids the use of "chemical weapons" in warfare and specifically includes CS gas. Yet it is used in the West Bank, Northern Ireland and, lately in North America.

Okay, gentle readers? Again, if Black Cross publishes or gives inaccurate information, we would be happy to hear about it. Hope to see you at the workshop. Those who wish to just promote disinformation, may I suggest a job with Ari Fleischer or Chief Kroeker? Please don't come to our events.
