TODAY: Noon Pro-Choice Rally at Salem's Federal Bldg

Today the State Senate is voting on 25-47, an 'informed consent' anti-choice bill which will force an adult woman to wait 48 hours before she can have an abortion. There are many cases where a woman needs emergency access to abortion. Please come to the pro-choice rally today at noon in front of the Salem Federal Building. Keep the religious zealots from denigrating women's reproductive rights. Call Sen. Wyden and Sen. Smith to vote no on 25-47!

Choice is truth

First off, I would like to point out that Gorden Smith and Ron Wyden are NATIONAL SENATORS. They have nothing to do with the state senate.

Secondly, I would like to state that the Women's right to know bill does NOT limit a woman's right to choose. Quite the opposite: It enhances it. How can anyone make such a major decision without being informed? It is like choosing going to war with Iraq based on information on Fox news. For any medical procedure, any surgery in the field other then abortion, it is currently required that the doctor meet first with the patient, explain what the procedure is, explain the risks and benefits, and if not dire, allow a waiting period for the patient to think it over. This is only not true for abortion. Any woman can walk straight into a planned parenthood clinic, ask for an abortion, and without ever meeting their doctor or getting an explanation, come out with the surgery an hour later without ever having been told her risks. And why on earth not? Why doesn't a woman have the right to know about the risks involved?

More woman die from complications of abortions in modern day then ever did from "back alley abortions" before Roe V. Wade. Abortion also immaturely halts the natural process of breast growth and maturation during pregnancy, increasing the risk of breast cancer from 50%. Women who have had an abortion are also 200% more likely to have a miscarriage later in life do to trauma to her uterus. This doesn't even take into account the emotional trauma suffered by many woman afterwards. Many later say that if they had just been informed beforehand, they would not have to suffer as they do now.

The Woman's right to know bill does not limit a woman's right to choose. It enhances it by educating her, and allowing her to know the truth of all posibilities of abortion. For more information, and to hear the testimonies and stories of actual women who have suffered from abortions, visit:
